My nephew asked me a really good question today.. he asked why we have seatbelts in our cars, but they don't have them in school buses? That's a really good question cause at least 30 kids can fit in a school bus,why would'nt they have seatbelts? Well if they do,I don't know why he would have asked. It's been awhile since I was in a school bus so I personally don't know. [Edited 10/12/09 23:11pm] Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach

they dont have seatbelts on public transport here...and most school buses use public buses.
smaller/private school have their own mini buses..im sure they have seatbelts. seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before

I think its a "Liability" thing...the driver would have to be responsible for each & every student.
we dont require them here, my SIL drives a school bus.

That's something I thought about when I was younger "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

A fair look at both sides of the issue.
http://www.ncsbs.org/news...oversy.htm Overall Buses are the safest way for kids to go, even without belts, based on percentage of fatalities. It places liability on the school district for behavior almost impossible to control. Lapbelts are dangerous. 3 point harnesses may not be worn properly. Just a few points from the article. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |
