When my oldest was smaller he was curious and wanted to play with them, so I got him a little boy doll (it was a baby dressed in blue)..it was passed to my youngest who also played with it. They were never crazy about it but it killed the curiousity if nothing else. I wouldnt care if they still wanted to play with it, they just lost interest.

I never got my kids toy guns or even told them what guns were called, yet they fashioned their own out of duplo at the age of 3 or 4 and called them shooters

word!

It baffles me how parents don't have an issue with toy weapons but they're against dolls.

That's one thing I love about Nintendo's wii and DS. They have TONS of video games that don't have blood or lethal weapons in them--and these are top rate games, not throwaway titles just to appease tree huggers. Even Mario only shoots water at soap bubbles and things of that nature.

Can you explicate a bit more why this would be harmful in the first place?

I did'nt say that it was wrong or harmful. My nephew when he was younger watched the Barbie movies, and for Christmas I bought him a baby doll that he saw at the store, and really liked. He also took it with him sometimes, and I was not concerned at all about what other people would think.

I was just asking the question, because there are some parents that would not let there son play with "girly type" toys, and I was just wanting to get everyone on the org's feelings about it. smile

I'm not too sure, it's not a common thing for boyz in my family. There are so many other options for toys but if I have a son one day I'll find out. The only doll playing my older brother did when we were kids was him ripping the head off my cabbage patch kid. Brutal lol!

he'd be happy to play with anything at this point.

maybe when he decides not to be on permanent timeout and stops taking a year and a day to do some basic homework and stops failing simple tests in school...

ps *dead* at the cute lil boy with the dolls and the rainbow shirt. so whatchu sayin'? wink (j/k) mine sashays his lil ass around with his hands limp wristin' in the air and speaks in a high whiny voice, so I can't say nothin'. Ambiguously ghey.

toys are toys- a boy can learn that a baby needs to stay warm and dry as well as how to be gentle with a baby and show affection- boys and girls role play with dolls and play kitchens, etc- it's how they copy what we as adults would do

taking a doll away from a boy is like forcing a 1 year old to stand and pee as he potty trains- it sounds ridiculous.

I wouldn't take a toy train or dump truck away from my daughter either

-some of the same people who scream equality for gay people perpetuate the problem with their own children by putting these stereotypes in their head

caring for a baby is life issue

why couldnt a boy pretend play that?
LOVE HARD.

If I had a son, I wouldn't voluntarily buy a doll for him to play with but if he absolutely wanted one, I would see no problem with it. Hell, his sexuality is already determined at birth and no toy is going to influence him one way or the other so let him play with what he wants to play with. It's his childhood, not yours, and he should be able to enjoy it to the fullest.

Same here except I wouldn't want him seeing me putting my foot in someone's ass that couldn't mind their own business. lol

I had Batgirl, Wonder Woman and Supergirl dolls to go with my Superman, Batman and Robin dolls when I was in grade school. My cousins totally laughed at me for having girl dolls. Kids are mean.

I had The Six Million Dollar Man, GI Joe, The Bionic Woman, and Wonder Woman dolls. That's two of each sex. People had something to say about me having the two female dolls but hell, I had much more fun with the two male dolls. The first thing I did was pull their pants off to see what was underneath. When I didn't see anything, I got pissed and got out my magic markers. On the bulges, I drew and colored in a shaft, balls, a head, and pubic hairs. Hell, I even drew in hairs on Steve Austin's chest. I was a creative child. The only damn thing I did with Wonder Woman was braid her hair like Peaches from Peaches and Herb. Hell, she looked more like Rick James. lol

Eventually we had the Supergirl doll making out with the Shazam doll and then Supergirl's top would come off. Being kids, we didn't know what to do after that.
