The apology was almost certainly done, in part, to save his ass. But here's the thing... being right is so in vogue in this country. There are people who, on a daily basis, say the most ignorant fucked up things and absolutely refuse to apologize for them. So when someone does apologize for saying something fucked up, I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt.

When you mess up in life, all you can do is apologize, make amends (if possible) and keep it moving.

nod Exactly! All public apologies by celebs are about one thing: spin/damage control. That ain't nothing new. But after the apology is made, most celebs move on with their careers and it's business as usual. It just seems that in his case this hasn't occurred.

I mean, now that we're past "Isiah you fucked up your career", how did that work?

Why not just start with "Isiah THEY fucked up your career" and skip the dance?

Dude, I ain't EVEN reading your post cuz I was being totally facetious. rolleyes My point from the beginning is he made a mistake, which I already acknowledged with my title, the question which I clearly stated is: Has he been treated fairly?

You're the one stuck on something else and haven't addressed the question at all. So if you don't want to participate in the discussion DON'T, but don't come up in here accusing me of saying something I'm clearly NOT saying, even though I know that's what ya'll (mods) like to do. talk to the hand

Me too. lol

This actor has always struck me as being full of himself. That and the fact that I've never considered his acting to be above average, I'm not sure his outburst is the sole cause of him not getting much work lately.

Did you think he was an asshole before this incident? I never thought the whole story came out about the incident cuz he says he didn't call TR that. Regardless, even if he did, I'm just saying that dude's been acting steadily for almost 20 years and it seems a shame that he doesn't seem to be getting a second chance now. I don't hear anyone saying, "Everybody makes mistakes and should be forgiven" in relation to this situation.

You are totally right he didn't actually say anything to TR, but it was inferred. In actual fact his argument was with Patrick Dempsey not TR and he made some comment along the lines of ...'i'm not your fag boy' or something like that.

TR outed himself, as his name was never actually mentioned.

Yea, I did make the mistake of thinking there was an actual conversation here, but the end was a foregone conclusion.

Thanks anyway.

..dammit to hell people. why we gotta try and "oneup" the conversation with bullshit. Obviously the subject is of someone fucking up,(which i dont see how calling a gay man gay did that??) and being able to regain their standing in their profession...i detest how "leadership" almost always tries to minimize the point at hand!!!

its not only about isaiah cause god knows hes not the only one who could use a little restoration and that to me is what the discussion is about!

asshole or no, there are people who want to see him in the mainstream. watch tmz there are plenty of a-holes who are working ...regularly.

and why call the brother an asshole anyhow??? cause he aint holding up his snatch for the camera, or falling down drunk outside the restuarant???

I don't think he's been treated fair at all because he still keeps landing jobs and hasn't reached the point of being homeless yet. I don't give a damn if the people blackballing him are closet homophobics themselves who are trying to be politically correct or if he's given an apology which he didn't really mean anyway. All I care about is for an individual that fucks with one of us to experience and feel the same anger we feel when we are fucked with. And I could care less about them going to classes or therapy to change their feelings because that doesn't change what they have already done. I want them to still feel the same way and I want them to be pissed because they can't express it like they used to be able to. The sooner they learn that we aren't "sweet" and we don't have "sugar in our tank", the better because when you fuck with us, you are fucking with rattlesnake venom. I want that weak little "sweet" image of us gone.

Well, he picked up another series (Bionic Woman) and guest starred on yet another (The Cleaner) and has 4 films in production since this happened.

If that is a blackballing, I would hope to be that unfortunate.

rolleyes Bionic Woman consisted of 8 episodes and his character was killed off so even if the show was picked up he wouldn't have been on it. That mess aired in '07 plus one episode on an A&E show in '08 are a far cry from starring on a hit show on network tv. And what are these four movies that are in production? Low budget, independent films I'm sure. So, comparatively, yeah it's a far cry from where he was before and a lot less work for an actor who worked steadily until this incident over 2 years ago.

That's still too much work. I want him to get to the point that he has to resort to making gay porn. And I don't want him to be the top either. I want him to be the one getting fucked.

So, I'm watching Ally McBeal and there's an episode with sexy ass Isaiah Washington when she drop kicked his ass for taking "No" for an answer, and I got to thinking, "Damn, bruh, you really fucked your shit up." comfort disbelief

I've always loved Isaiah in everything he did and although he fucked up and has apologized, why is it that Hollywood doesn't seem to be accepting his apology??? Yet, most of Hollywood has rallied around Roman Polanski and are overlooking the fact that he raped a child. Has Isaiah even worked since getting fired from Grey's Anatomy? I think he even lost his house. confused

Too sad, too bad, he's a really good actor IMO. What do you think? Has he been treated fairly?

nod Yeah, that's how I heard it too. Yet there's never any mention of what Patrick Dempsey may have said or done before that or what the complete exchange was. Plus, I don't think the producers ever fully explained what happened either. Yet, there was enough inflammatory and somewhat speculative info out in the media to effectively end his career.

Yet, we've all seen lots of other celebs commit much more egregious acts but not only are they still working regularly they are still loved and celebrated in Hollywood. And I don't hear anybody saying he made a mistake and apologized let's give him another shot.

The story goes Isaiah, in an argument with another actor on the set of a TV show, referred to a third actor as a "faggot". At first he denied he said it, then apologized, then backtracked and denied it was in reference to the third actor (who is gay).

He said that he told Patrick in the midst of an argument and scuffle, "I'm not a pussy, a bitch or your lil fag boy." Should he have said that? No. Does that one statement in the midst of an argument with another man mean he's homophobic? Not in my eyes. Like I said earlier, I never thought the full story came out. shrug

I personally hate the word faggot and would never use it. However, I've heard folks and even told people that were stepping to me wrong, "I ain't no punk!" That don't make me homophobic. Regardless of what he said, my point is he made a mistake, apologized for it, so why's his career still in the crapper when others have done worse and get chance after chance???

Yeah, I know that. I'm just saying, that I see him using this word in the midst of a physical confrontation, in addition to the things he supposedly said, more so to say he wasn't weak (in the way one might say "punk") and not so much about him being homophobic. Still wrong for him to say it, but for me the person's intent is always more important than the words themselves. shrug
