So... what's the deal? Did it get fixed? If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

got it back today, faulty ram module Wow. That's weird - never had one of those fail, usually they either work or they don't. Was it covered under Apple Care? Or was the RAM chip something you put in? If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Or was the RAM chip something you put in? all under warranty, I haven't opened the hood on this thing once! I got applecare 3 years (18 months left on it), it's been in for a repair once in the time that I had it (for a known fault with graphics card in those machines) already, the guy said if it goes in 5 times for a repair to call apple and demand a new computer! I think twice is pretty bad enough

Unplug the Mac, discharge any static electricity and check inside and see if everything is plugged in and seated. Otherwise, I'll bet the shop that worked on it installed the latest firmware, which may cause the fan to spool up after waking - these updates are supposed to fix hardware glitches, but sometimes create new ones. Check Apple for firmware updates every once in a while. My Mini recently had a firmware update that fixed an issue with the SuperDrive spinning on startup. Reset the SMC. You might want to disable sleep, or schedule shut downs instead if resetting the SMC doesn't fix the problem. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

how do I even do that by the way? (and yes I do know how to google but I want to hear it from you ) You should not be wearing tube socks as they're a major contributor to static electricity. Just touch the aluminum case or inside frame with your hand. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
