OK, I'll bite. 
I'm familiar with her "music" because she lived for many years in Iceland (where I come from) and she released many albums but got little attention until about 8 years ago when she became popular, in an ironic kitch way, especially with her song "Love in a pub"... here's the English version, although the Icelandic version is the one that was popular over here: She always claimed that the Icelandic music elite was being racist towards her and preventing her from getting airplay. There were always some new reports in the media about her, for example her suing someone for covering her music in a TV show without explicit permission and someone was sued for posting her real age on a message board.
