Daaaaaaamn . . . Isaiah, you really f*cked up your career

So, I'm watching Ally McBeal and there's an episode with sexy ass Isaiah Washington when Renee drop kicked his ass for not taking "No" for an answer, and I got to thinking, "Damn, bruh, you really fucked your shit up." comfort disbelief

I've always loved Isaiah in everything he did and although he fucked up and has apologized, why is it that Hollywood doesn't seem to be accepting his apology??? Yet, most of Hollywood has rallied around Roman Polanski and are overlooking the fact that he raped a child. Has Isaiah even worked since getting fired from Grey's Anatomy? I think he even lost his house. confused

Too sad, too bad, he's a really good actor IMO. What do you think? Has he been treated fairly?

Your headline really says it all. HE fucked up his career. No-one else.

Without that there would be no question.

As for the Polanski reference, maybe in 32 years enough time will have passed to obscure what he did in the minds of Hollywood.

HE made a mistake and apologized for it. That doesn't mean he should be blackballed. Roman Polanski broke the law and ran, Isaiah didn't break any laws. Funny, but it seems like a lot of other actors get chance after chance and are excused for their bad behavior because they're talented. How many chances did Robert Downey Jr get???

The flip-floppery in hollywood is the ultimate unspoken rule,,,,I love it when they gave him the "raised eyebrow" treatment, as if 3/4 of hollwood ain't homophobic to begin with.

But I don't feel sorry for dude, he got "asshole" written all over him.

lol You think so? Why come? I'm concerned that the perception of him perpetuated by the media as "another angry black man" is some more typical bullshit.

And Mel Gibson and Michael Richards and that dumb fuck that referred to black women as "nappy headed hoes".

I gotta disagree on you on this one, Mars. Polanski has been loved by Hollywood for years and years.

Well, he picked up another series (Bionic Woman) and guest starred on yet another (The Cleaner) and has 4 films in production since this happened.

If that is a blackballing, I would hope to be that unfortunate.

I don't defend Polanski, Gibson, or Richards. I just don't think Polanski is a good comparison.

Richards and Gibson are better comparisons. Their actions are very close to Washington's. Gibson has barely worked and the public has mostly rejected his stuff and Richards has been a ghost.

rolleyes Bionic Woman consisted of 8 episodes and his character was killed off so even if the show was picked up he wouldn't have been on it. That mess aired in '07 plus one episode on an A&E show in '08 are a far cry from starring on a hit show on network tv. And what are these four movies that are in production? Low budget, independent films I'm sure. So, comparatively, yeah it's a far cry from where he was before and a lot less work for an actor who worked steadily until this incident over 2 years ago.

Did you think he was an asshole before this incident? I never thought the whole story came out about the incident cuz he says he didn't call TR that. Regardless, even if he did, I'm just saying that dude's been acting steadily for almost 20 years and it seems a shame that he doesn't seem to be getting a second chance now. I don't hear anyone saying, "Everybody makes mistakes and should be forgiven" in relation to this situation.

50 mil domestic for Gibson's last. I think Richard's friends defended him as in "that does not seem like him" but he still hasn't been working. Washington has done more than both of them in the past couple of years.

Are you sneezing at 50 mil? lol

Considering it wasn't in English, 50 mil is pretty fuckin' good.

For Mel Gibson, yea. His last non English movie grossed 400 mil.

I know, I know that was a fluke, but this is the guy that was pulling 20 mil for himself per picture a few years back.

Me personally, I did.

I saw a couple of interviews by him, and the man is a TOTAL turn off.

He's a good actor,,,,but his shitty attitude is bigger than his talent IMO.

And you know Isaiah wasn't getting no Mel type money, or even Grey's Anatomy money, for a couple eps on Bionic Woman or one appearance on The Cleaner. And Michael Richards don't EVER have to work again considering how much he got paid on Seinfeld and continues to receive from syndication and dvd sales.

How does that work. I know I'm part of THEY, but I missed that briefing apparently.

Was he drugged, or brainwashed into being a bigot or something more sinister? Partial lobotomy in a secret lab?

I mean, now that we're past "Isiah you fucked up your career", how did that work?

Why not just start with "Isiah THEY fucked up your career" and skip the dance?

Dude, I ain't EVEN reading your post cuz I was being totally facetious. rolleyes My point from the beginning is he made a mistake, which I already acknowledged with my title, the question which I clearly stated is: Has he been treated fairly?

You're the one stuck on something else and haven't addressed the question at all. So if you don't want to participate in the discussion DON'T, but don't come up in here accusing me of saying something I'm clearly NOT saying, even though I know that's what ya'll (mods) like to do. talk to the hand

The apology was almost certainly done, in part, to save his ass. But here's the thing... being right is so in vogue in this country. There are people who, on a daily basis, say the most ignorant fucked up things and absolutely refuse to apologize for them. So when someone does apologize for saying something fucked up, I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt.

When you mess up in life, all you can do is apologize, make amends (if possible) and keep it moving.
