Do you mean in Farsi? I have a friend from Iran...I can email and ask her, but it might take awhile for her to respond.

Oh, so it has to be in Farsi letters? Or can it be using the English alphabet?

Okay, I just emailed her. She's kinda pokey sometimes...so it may take her awhile to get back to me.

(It's me, Joni, by the way....in case you didn't know.)

Here's her response, verbatim:

It's significant, I think, that it isn't coming to me that easy. "Freedom of speech" is "azadiyeh bayan," I think.

آزادی بیان

So "free speech" would be:

بیان آزاد

Is the phrase is being used in a sentence? That would make a difference to which should be used.

Hope that helps! I'll ask her which one should be used for a sentence.

She says,

"What I meant was that the phrase could change depending on the sentence, but I think the first one, which means "freedom of speech," should work in most contexts."
