I blame Michael Caine!

And I have a feeling that Detroit was hurt by London having 2012.

Chicago did NOT need this circus. It would have been a mess in more ways than 6.

Hey, wait a minute. no no no! As a Chicagoan, I thought having the Olympics here would have been awesome for our world image, not to mention the jobs that would have been created just for infrastructure alone. (God knows we need to improve the CTA and Metra). While I wasn't surprised that Rio won the games, I was shocked that Chicago was booted in the first round of voting. Apparently, there was some backlash from some actions by the USOC prior to the bid that were dismissive of the IOC, not to mention there was still some ill feelings towards our previous Presidential administration, and the anti-Olympic protests by some Chicago groups. And it also didn't help that news of a high school student being beaten to death by a gang mob got splashed all around YouTube and the internet, which certainly couldn't have helped the image of safety surrounding the Olympic games.

sad omfg shocked bawl fit chair

But even if we had made the final two, it would have been hard not to push Rio ahead of Chicago. The USA has already hosted four Summer Olympic games (St. Louis: 1904, Los Angeles: 1932 and 1984, and Atlanta: 1996) plus three Winter Olympic Games (Squaw Valley: 1960, Lake Placid: 1980, and Salt Lake City: 2002) while no Olympics of any kind have been hosted in South America, so a lot of people thought that South America was overdue. Plus the Brazilians were enthusiastically behind the games while Chicagoans were split. Plus you have the vista of the absolute gorgeous Ipanema beach and the sexy people residing in that area. sexy Just imagining the carnival atmosphere being brought into the Olympic games made this nearly a slam dunk for Rio.

We had the Olympics in 1904, 32, 84, and 96 and the Winter Olympics in 32, 60, 80, and 2002 i'm glad it went to another country. we've host more than any other country. we should share the experience plus the Olympics have been held in South America. People didn't think Greece would be able to pull it off and they did. I'm sure Brazil will as well.

That was some messed up stuff. It is wrong to support or be pleased at the idea of America not winning. It is disturbing. It is simply bitterness. Now if the President fails to get a public option and they cheer that is one thing, as that would be a policy issue not just bitterness.

Yah Brazil will do fine I'm very happy for SA. Many peeps had no faith in the Greeks and yet the Hellenic Republic went on to have the greatest olympics of all time. Shame on those negative peeps and Greece never did receive an apology for the bad press, their success was the best revenge.
