But my oldest daughter, 16. that about covers it. You sound like a family member of mine when discussing her now 21 year old. Scary shit, especially when I think about what I was up to at 16.

A friend of a friend to my mother used to do that all the time. She always lavished her kids with nice bedroom sets and sheets and stuff a few times a year and bought them little gifts for doing well in school. Whenever they would act up she would take all their bedroom stuff and gifts out and leave them with a some sheets and a decent blanket and a desk. No stuffed animals, posters, games, no nothing. She would even change up dinner. She would make really good meals that they loved when they were good, but when they weren't she gave the bare minimum of a healthy meal (nothing irresponsible of course). It was usually very effective. [/quote] This woman sounds like she was a truly great mother, its a shame others couldn't follow her example. These kids need to learn how valuable education is in their lives So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

For instance, when I was in 3rd or 4th grade, I was being stubborn and refused to learn my multiplication tables. He told me that I was NOT going to sleep until I learned my facts from 1 through 12. Well, I didn't believe him.
He sat me in my bedroom and told me to study my flash cards and every hour he wanted me to come in and he would quiz me. This went on until 4am. And guess what, I had to go to school the next day, but I finally learned my facts. He also used to make me haul tree limbs, dig ditches, rake the yard and virtually any other task you can think of for discipline. Let's just say, I appreciate it now. Punishments like that were more effective than any spanking or taking away things for me. I like that. Part of what our girls were being punished for was leaving the house wide open when they left (front door unlocked and garage door wide open). So we made them go outside, lock the front door, walk to the end of the driveway, walk back, unlock the door, open it, close it, lock it again and repeat. They each did this ten times. Then they kneeled on the garage floor, staring at the closed garage door, for 20 minutes. Then their asses went to BED! (Uh, mattress.)

But rules is rules, and it's my job to teach them to be good and responsible people, not to just love on them all day long. That part of the job kind of sucks.

I already told the boy the day after his 18th birthday he best have someplace to move because he won't be with me, Right now I got him all psyched on going to college. I think he would like something with computers or engineering. But first he has to know to read and write and do his math.
Shit if I care what he learn, but he will be going straight to college and out my house for damn sure! LOL Boy is all over the apologize word right now and the thank you for what you give me. I know children are uberselfish, but it's our job to teach them. better now than when life spanks on him later
