I agree. Just as people shouldn't be tailgating in the right lane, slower drivers need to get out of the way when they're in the left lane.

Both slower & faster drivers should be accommodated as long as they're not a danger.

don't 4get female foreign tourists (with glasses) trying to drive left hand when they're used to right hand etc..piss arsing about on the road & fucking the natives right off! evillol
seriously tho, your freeways are terrifying stuff! people weaving in & out, cutting up on inside lanes at fcuk know what mph.....every man 4 himself &
why are pedestrians allowed right of way? sooo dangerous & half arsed..
& i saw people EATING & driving, what the heck is that all about? with cutlery no less
those car sharing lanes give respite but only until heading on out to an exit with 10 second window to move across about 6 lanes, people get all twitched & not giving an inch & frightened of losing 3 seconds of their journey..there were shittylooks, but hey when in rome..
oh & the lorry drivers disbelief

okay i want to apologize for my outburst up there. i read what i typed and see it might be worded a little bit too strongly. thanks for listening

it might seem nasty, but people die every day out there! Driving is serious business.

I seriously think it should be more regulated. Imagine a commercial pilot cutting off another plane so he can land first. It's insane out there, and you are right, every single day people do completely unbelievable stupid shit out there. You think you can't be amazed, and every day you're amazed by the thoughtlessness.

Lately I am seeing people not even stop for red lights.

yep. it's the new stupid. confused people barreling through red lights. they are counting on that two second delay where all sides are red. there is a real attitude from the kind of people who do this. it's like "so what are you gonna do about it?"

i think it would be cool if we could splat sucky drivers with paintballs to warn the people around them "hey! watchout for this jerk! your life is in danger when he/she is near you on the road!!!!!"

Dude, if I'm doing the limit and you are doing 80, you can go fly a kite. I get out of the right lane because that is the merging one.

Anyone who must make adjustments to their driving, say, if a cop was in their rearview mirrow, should walk.

Good topic and opening post!

I'd like to add that if the racers didn't race so much we wouldn't all get jammed up 10 kms later. I mean, by the time we get to the exit we need, the jam they caused allowed us to be at exactly the same point at the end of our journey anyway!!

I would really love it too if the government would change the traffic jam overhead speed signs to speak the truth. We never go 50kms an hour in a jam. It's 10!! If that !! mad

well aren't you just a law obiding citizen! I have a bit of a lead foot...I must admit. Only on like secondary or back roads though, when the speed limit is 35 I'm doing 45ish. wink On the highway I'm in the slow lane doing like 70.

*The freeway is not a race track. If you want to race, there are actual race tracks and groups that you may join. Starting new ones might even be lucrative to some enterprising individual.

*I have the right to exist, and to drive on this street. All of our taxes pay for this convenience. I am not trespassing just because I am in front of you. I am not an inconvenience because I am driving the speed limit & not rapidly changing lanes.

*If you would like to make a left turn, please move entirely into the left turn lane. Please do not only put your left wheels into the left turn lane. PLease do not block the oncoming lane while you wait for a chance to turn or for pedestrians to cross the street.

*I am sorry if you missed your turn, but please do not stop in the middle of a highway and wait for a chance to cross a bunch of sets of double yellow lines. They are not there because we want to inconvenience you, they are there because it is not a safe place to make a turn.

*Driving is a dangerous thing. If you want to risk your life, please try something like climbing Everest or smoking crack. I have no desire for you to risk my life.
*Motorcycles--the lines in the middle of streets are not actually lanes just for you. If traffic is stopped, then by all means, go ahead & go between the cars. But 80 miles per hour is not "stopped." And please don't use the above stated dangerous act as a reason for needing "short pipes."

*Hazard lights do not turn wherever you are into a parking space.

*Pedestrians--Having the right of way does not equal having a magic bubble that will protect you from cars running you over. I would feel bad if my insurance rates went up, but you would also feel bad if you could never walk again. Please look before crossing into the street--not because it is what they tell you to do, but so that person who texts while they drive doesn't hit you.

feel free to argue/expand...
[Edited 9/30/09 12:02pm]

falloff

add these to your list:

*Turn signals are not part of the car design. Cutting on a turn signal doesn't take a whole lot of energy. And by all means, can you use the correct turn signal please? Thank you.

*Truck Drivers--We know you have to meet deadlines for your destinations, but just because you sit up 4 stories high and can see the road ahead way farther than I can doesn't mean that you need to drive all on my bumper. I will not, I repeat WILL NOT go any faster.

*Elderly/Handicapped Drivers--We know that you may still have a license, can't find family members to drive you to places where you have to go, and that you just want to drive yourself, that's fine...but thats no excuse for driving 20 miles below the speed limit, driving in two lanes, and turning down a one way street in the wrong direction. Just as younger people get their driver's license suspended for not following the correct driving rules, you shouldn't be excluded from the rules either just because of your age.

*Public Bus Drivers--Umm yeah just because you drive a big old bus, and maybe hate your job, doesn't mean that you have to run over pedestrians in retaliation.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I also hate the drivers who exit out the enter lane on a fast food joint, then want to get mad at you because they can't see oncoming traffic past your car for them to pull out. I rolled down my window and cursed a lady out over that and she had the nerve to curse back at me and then give me the middle finger. Bitch. bitchfight

I've driven above the posted speed limit, but mostly while keep up with the flow of traffic.

But, I watched a driver read a paperback novel while doing 50mph between two lanes. disbelief That's the sort of person I think should definately be walking.

I'd never do that. and I don't want to get hurt by someone who would.

This reminds me of something that isn't totally truck drivers' fault, but makes me crazy anyway.

I drive a small Toyota, and when trucks are behind me at night, their lights are absolutely blinding in my mirrors. I can flip the rear view, but not the side ones. And as trucks get bigger, the problem gets worse. Why anyone needs to be driving a monster truck on the freeway is beyond me.

Another thing, those damn halogen lamps (they kind of glow blue on cars like BMW's). Again, not the drivers' faults, but they are so damn bright it give me a headache when one is behind me.
