Yantze River DOLPHIN Now believed to BE EXTINCT http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/h...935343.stm
It's believed that this is a linked to the unregulated fishing industry in China. The dolphin was sought over a six week period and no traces of it could be found. It will be the first large vertebrate extinction in the last 50 years. My personal opinion is that this is that it won't take 50 years for the next large vertebrate to go extinct. The real alarm here to me is that the River dolphin is at the TOP of the food chain, indicating that there's a breakdown of the chain all the way down to small fishes. really embarrassing but not altogether unexpected spelling/grammar instinct-to-extinct edit [Edited 9/29/09 14:37pm] | |

With these bigger animals my feeling is it's more of a loss of habitat than a loss of food, but then what do I know? My Legacy
