I have a boxfull of comics from my childhood somewhere in my parents' garage. I keep meaning to get them and check them to see;
a) what condition they're still in, and
b) what value they might have

from what little i know ... i think the ones that go for like 75.00 --- 200.00 etc are mainly ones that are in mint condition ...

most of my comics i did bagg and board them ... but i wouldnt say that they are in mint condition .... some get little creases on them ... or ... whatever ....

but still i have a few that i think are worth some money ... i remember a few years ago - before the spiderman movie ... i think i had a comic that was valued at like 175.00 or something ... who know s ... its probably now valued at 60 - and then if it is professionally graded (which costs 25.00 to get done i presume) ... ugh ... i am still poor . lol

The speculator market really took the comics market down in the '90s. It still hasn't really recovered. Too many people were trying to buy comics on the newsstand hoping they would rapidly escalate in value, and the big comics companies were more than happy to feed into that. It was a giant mess.

The grading you're asking about is something I've never done because I want to be able to touch and read my comics. Once you have them "slabbed," they're off-limits--but they'll stay in the certified condition permanently and will be easier to sell in that regard. You can find out more here: http://www.cgccomics.com/

If you have a lot of comics that you want to sell and they're not in great shape or they're not individually worth a lot, sometimes a good thing to do is sell them in lots on eBay.

I've got several thousand comics still stored at my mom's house. Someday she's gonna make me come get them, which is scary. I'm gonna have to think about storing or selling them very soon.

I got a bunch of Bazooka Joe wrapper/comics from like 1950s or something - do people collect stuff like that?

(I just checked on eBay, someone in Argentina is selling them for $17 each hmmm in that case I have about $2000 worth at least omfg but that's only if there is a market for them hmmm )

Put like 6-10 of 'em in a nice frame all neat in stack and column and you might make a few bucks...

That's how I'd want them if I were in the market... biggrin

like with these stamps but a nice frame...

I sold all my comics when I was 14 years-old, to fund my obsession with Prince at the time. I had X-Factor #1; all of the Alan Moore run on Swamp Thing... neutral
