The creator has openly acknowledged his attempt to build on what the Simpsons did (heaping tons of praise on that show) & take it one step farther in terms of being inappropriate, over the top, gross, etc. So you're right, but it's a lot funnier than the Simpsons is right now! It always seemed to be trying way too hard to be offensive, and to pack way too many references to random people like Scott Bakula (and actually I thought it was a bit of a ripoff too). But once it came on right after the Simpsons in reruns every night, I'm sorry to say it won me over. They're trying to do the same with 2 & a Half Men, but that's just not gonna happen! My Legacy
