English native speakers - help please. Over here we have a saying:
"A quest in the house is like a God in the house." Do you have something similar in English? "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all." | |

These two may be similar in meaning, but I am not sure. I don´t even know where to look for it, cause you won´t find it in a dictionary. If I wrote "there´s a Czech saying "a guest in the house, a God in the house" that we believe in and we will do our best to make you feel at home..." Would that make sense to you? I would use the english saying "I am the guest thy god; there shall be no guest before me" "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Better by far to embrace the hard truth than a reassuring faith. If "Dag" is Dutch then that one is translated "beter een vogel in de hand dan tien in de lucht." Dutch say literally translated "it's better to have a bird in the hand than 10 in the air. I don't know the expression of a guest in the house though. In English or Dutch.
