I ~HEART~ Ed Wardle Does anyone watch Nat Geo? Ed Wardle's "Alone in the Wilderness" show has me totally captivated. It doesn't hurt that he's so beautiful for me to look at, with piercing green eyes, a very charming Scottish accent, and just an overall upbeat attitude. That's not to say what you see is all peaches and cream. Within the first four days, he has a slight emotional breakdown and allows you to witness it all. His vulnerability, his passion--all of it is there for you to witness with no feeling that you're watching people 'play it up on film'. Ed brought his own camera equipment and films himself, so there is no additional camera crew---he truly is alone in the Wilderness. Unfortunately, I developed a minor obsession with him and googled his name and show , and found out he never made it the entire 3 months due to health concerns But he's planning on going back, but this time with some friends an maybe more food I remember back in '07, I did an amazing amount of kayaking and spending time in Florida's rivers, shallow mangrove swamps, and wildlife preserves. There were times that I would be out there alone for almost an hour without seeing any traces of another human. It felt isolating and strangely liberating to be alone with mother nature. I often fantacized about camping out somewhere with just me and the camping gear. Or with me and one other person. Just alone, unbothered by the noise of modernity. I realize now that I would have reached Ed's fourth day, probably at the end of my second day At any rate, I lurve this man. He's my new super-hero. You can see part of his show here: http://channel.nationalge...k-2-videos I. love. him. [Edited 9/26/09 20:08pm] | |

Ex-Moderator | I've never heard of him, but he looks very handsome. Nice eyes.
I'm kind of scared of being in the wilderness alone. I mean, I could go for a long hike if I was on a mapped out trail. But in general I don't want to be more than a few minutes away from civilzation. And forget about being in some woods alone at night. |
