For some reason, when I was jamming with my band,my drummer missed a symbol and I said,"do you wanna play or be a sucky drummer?"At that point I felt like Prince. Another thing is I'm fascinated with splits and I've been doing them since 9/17. And the last thing,"I think" I've following Prince to closely because when my non-band member friends come to get me to come outside,i'll simply tell them,"I have more important things to do(music)". Do you think I need to chill on the Prince personality?Because my teacher(music teacher) talked to me on Friday and said he can see how Prince inspired me.

So what's your opinion? If your gonna be mean, please dont post

Yah, you need to chill BIG TIME. You sound like you are too full of yourself. You are not Prince, and if you keep it up you are going to find yourself without a band.

Define mean? lol

I don't think you are trying to be Prince, unless there's more not being said.
You'll develop into you. Give it some time.
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

That's the point,I'm not trying to be like him,it's just happening naturaly.

It's not happening 'naturally.' If Prince wasn't in your life would you be doing the same? Who knows?
If you were getting hip surgery . . . then I'd worry.
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Bullshit.

It's totally weak to think you can't get what you want out of people without being nasty. rolleyes

There are tons of bands that are incredibly tight live, without an abusive leader.

When an artist is on Prince's level as far as musical ability they can be a jackass if they choose to be (even Prince shouldn't be a jackass but since he doesn't have to answer to anyone...) but definitely not a noob. Attitude aint attractive!

Who does he answer to? Maybe for legal matters, but when it comes to his music and band, he doesn't answer to anyone, unless you know something we don't.

His pattern of behavior shows that if people that he treats like shit don't like it, he shows them the door. So technically he doesn't really answer to them. For Prince, it is "My way or the highway. Owwwaaa!!!!!"

True, and I counter that with "what makes you the expert on how he handles people"? What some people have claimed is all we have to work with, so how would you think any differently unless you have proof or personal experience? Not trying to be disrespectful, I'm just sayin.

I'm going to assume correctly that you are not referring to me, as I am not one of those obsessed fans, but your point is taken. However, "common sense" does not apply in this case. And because it appears that we can't agree on this, I am not going to further debate this with you because that would be like , so we can agree to disagree. wall

Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. I saw them two weeks ago, and they are phenomenal. There were eleven people on stage, and it was like they were all operating from the same mind. Even when they took requests from the audience (including a song Bruce hadn't played since 1981 and then it was with a different band!), they fucking killed it as if they'd been rehearsing it all year.

Robert Randolph's Family Band. Seen them live also, and they are CRAZY tight.

The Roots are incredibly tight, maybe not quite on the level of Prince's bands in terms of musical proficiency, but a super tight outfit.

All three (Bruce, Randolph and Black Thought) are known to be great people to work for. When you treat people well, they want to do a good job for you.

lol yes, if you can play the drums better than the drummer, then by all means criticize his playing.

If your performance is awe inspiring, and you've been signed to a record contract & these folks are just the band you've hired in order to tour, then go ahead & rule with an iron fist.

But most of us actually need our drummers and are no better than they are on our respective instruments, and would be best served with constructive criticism & positive reinforcement.

Bottom line, is it working? Is the band getting better, or on the verge of imploding?

Now, I was asking, and let me change the question around,"Do you adapt habbits from Prince?"
