Burt's Bees Garden Tomato FACIAL TONER

Slap my ass and call me sally, but this shit is awesome. I've been looking for an natural alternative to the pesticide ridden, petroleum soaked, artificial commercial toners on the market, and for the last year, I've let my skin more or less suffer due to it.

But lawd hammercy have I found the perfect facial toner. This shit is smooth!

It evokes an ethereal freshness that permeates your senses, tingling as you apply it to your skin. Its scent is light, with citrus highlights and fruity undertones. The dry down is definitely a mixture of sweet and herbal with hints of an aquatic ocean spray lingering tone--how they accomplish this with natural mixtures of herbs and essential oils baffles me, but it's amazing.

One can't splash this on your face, and cleanse your skin without getting a sense that they've pampered themselves with something truly remarkable.

But, lest we praise this product too far without examining if it actually does the job a toner is designed to do. And, I can say without a doubt, that yes indeed it certainly does. It evens out the oily areas and the dry areas and restores your skin to a nice PH-balance-- supple, soft, and refreshed.
For those of you who use makeup, this definitely will make the application of your base or foundation easier as you'll need less of it to achieve the desired evening of your skin tone.

I also enjoy Avalon Organic's facial toner:

It leaves your skin soft, and almost age defying. But smells a bit medicinal and herbal. Also it tends to hydrate my skin more than I need it too.

hmmm I have never used a toner before, just cleanser, and lotion. When exactly would you use a toner? Does it replace cleansers?

A toner doesn't really replace a cleanser.

But the problem with cleanser's is that they tend to be stronge astrigents and don't necessarily balance out your skin's PH as well.

A toner would be used after an astrigent (or on its own) to help even out the skin's overall PH and tone.

You use it before applying makeup or just as a way to finish off your cleansing routine.

The difference between and toner and a cleanser is mainly attributed to the level of alcohol in the product (toners have very little).

I just might have to try this. It's not expensive either ($12.00) which I like. Thanks for the recommendation! smile

You used the phrase "ethereal freshness" in reference to a toiletry that you use. neutral

No snarky comment could quite do that justice.

It's also hydrates your skin so it's great to use in the winter. AND you can use it OVER your makeup at the end of the day to make it appear 'fresher' if you have to go out somewhere and don't have time to reapply.

I use Multiactive Toner and Age Smart Toner from Dermalogica.
