LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) — It's game over for some police officers who played video games while they raided a convicted drug dealer's home in central Florida.

Surveillance video obtained by WFLA in Tampa caught the officers playing a Nintendo Wii bowling game, with one furiously jumping up and down in celebration. Officials say some of the officers could be disciplined.

Officers with the anti-drug task force had just stormed into the home of the convicted drug dealer, who was already in custody. One Polk County sheriff's detective can be seen taking several breaks from cataloging evidence so she can bowl frames.

The officers did not know a video camera had been set up in the house before the March raid.

mmmkay, did anybody see the one cop jumping up and down like he just won first grade spelling bee falloff...but all in all here's my take on this:

it's a sucky job.

police candidates need to be vetted more thoroughly to weed out as many bad apples as possible.

they need a raise, as well as some morale boosters.

more psychotherapy assistance needs to be provided to equip these people to handle the rigors of their job so that they don't act inappropriately at first opportunity just to release steam.

i've met a cop or two in my time, and in all sincerity, as nice as they can be, there is always an underlying feeling you get from them that they're so underpaid, outdone, and worn out from being urban street soldiers that they are always just a bust away from being cuckoo for cocoa puffs. i'm almost happy that the worst thing that happened here is that Big Man got pumped up from getting a bowling strike. eek

the report said that the dude who owned the house was already in custody. so um...what the fuck were the cops doing there?

I think they came there looking for drug money and to play the wii. Wii's aren't cheap and these cops knew just where to go to get their free game on.

Yeah that was funny, the one cop jumping up and down like he hit the lotto. I have a Wii...it's aiight. confused

I don't find anything wrong with that. The guy was a dealer, he was in custody, they got a warrant to get the drugs out of the house, decided to have a little fun.

Yeah, there are asshole cops out there but there are good ones too. Give the good ones a break.

It's not that simple, next thing you know, one will stuff some of the cash or the coke;Or just mess up the evidence all together.A superior should've stopped them before they threw one ball and this would've been avoided. My ex is a cop and she would tell me stories similar to this, but it never got that far because a superior officer would shut that temptation down. You claim these are good cops, you dont know them or if they've pulled this stunt before without a hidden camera.I have a feeling good cops would do their job, then go home and play on their own Wii.
