Why did I answer the phone? Everyonhas those friends. The one you were good to at first, that you helped...but they took a mile from your inch.
This heifer is so screwed up, she stayed with me for a few months in 2000 and made my ... no i allowed her to make my life drama full. Fast forward, she's stil dramatic and self destructive. But with two children. I NEVER answer her phone calls. But I felt guilty and picked up the phone.... No place to stay, she's still trying to be a party promoter/model/groupie ho. I think she was fishing. I didn't bite, shiiiiit none of that shit that you shoul be purged of in your 20's will be in my house. But damn, she blames everything on what everyone has done to her. I mean damn! And those poor kids! Don't pick up the phone!

It's sad, but true. I had to cut a friend loose, too.
Her life was really a disaster- husband cheating, son on drugs... But she started drinking too much and when we'd go places she'd get sloppy drunk, start crying, and make a scene. When we lost her at the Halloween parade in NYC for 2 hours- drunk with no cellphone- I knew that the end was near. I bought a house in January. Her husband stopped paying their rent. She started hinting about moving here... OH HELL NO! Eventually, I stopped answering the phone... I did try to reach out to her on her birthday, but the number was disconnected. How about the friends who only call when they want something?
Because of my job, sometimes friends call me to check their record or someone else's. Most of them have the courtesy to as least ask how ya doin, and chat a bit, but this one chick is always calling to check up on some loser she just met. She does this constantly because she's always hooking up with some dude she thinks she can "fix"...I've started calling her "handyman special", Even if I tell her something like the guy has a felony conviction or he's been married four times or whatever, then she starts going on and on about how he's gonna take care of her or he's just misunderstood, yadda, yadda... . My end of the conversation consists of an "oh yeah" or um-hmm from time to time. After several months of this, now I look at the caller ID and just let the phone ring. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

[Edited 9/20/09 15:57pm] yeah this girl will throw it out there that she has no place to stay and hint at finding one. I don't even enter into taht convo. She left me with a high ass phone bill, and had too many random dudes on my couch for me to go back to that. People. Halloween parade in NYC? I flew up for that in 2005. It was FUN! I knew a prostitute. She stayed in our house for a month when she was going back to finish high school and we supported her. I thought she was a really good friend, but after she moved out she didn't make any effort to stay in touch. Even removed some of my 'hi, how are you?' type messages on Facebook. I deleted her and have given up trying to stay in contact and have decided not to worry about her anymore.

I feel bad, and I miss the days when she was cool (she was my "Prince Runnin' Dawg"- had some good times at shows! ) but I had enough! I was devastated about my b.f. and me not getting along, and she was about her mess. I almost said, "Yeah, yeah- I know. He left. Can we talk about me for a minute?!" And the problem was that SHE ASKED how things were! "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

I'm starting to agree with Chocolate1's response. Guess I can't totally turn away. I just keep her at a football stadium lengths distance.

I hate that guilty feeling. You see their name/number in the caller ID box. Your stomach sinks and your brain starts debating- Answer it/Don't answer it. Happens each time my sister-in-law calls. All 4 fun and fun 4 all
