CONTEXT & Connotation is EVERYTHING lawd.
I'm in the mood for some basil mushroom tortellini. I told PunkMistress that I was in the mood for Italian. Well, considering my years long obsession with Jerseykrs, she's now threatening to cut me. (on facebook--mods, you have no jurisdiction over banner her based on behavior outside the org you weirdos). It never occurred to me that wanting Italian could be interpreted as wanting some of her man's mantang. I swear, sometimes, you really have to consider your audience. If I'm working on a piece of art, I wouldn't dare tell Anxiety or Miguel Gomez that I'm 'painting' for example. If I'm talking to rushing07, I wouldn't dare call my laptop port replicator a 'docking' station. And lawd would I need to tread carefully when telling CarrieMpls she has a pretty kitteh. lawd

I remember this one time, there was this lake on this farmer's property. It was perfect for swimming. But he didn't want anyone swimming there. So he put up a sign that said "NO SWIMMING ALLOWED".
Well, it didn't have any punctuation, so we added some. Then the sign said, "NO! SWIMMING ALLOWED!" And we swam to our hearts content.

That was an actual example used in a textbook when I was a kid, to teach us about punctuation. I wonder how many kids got shot by irate farmers when they actually tried this?

Oh, wait - there was another one.
These kids kept stealing watermelons. So the farmer put up a sign that said "One of these watermelons is poisoned!" He figured that would keep the kids away. But the next day, there was a sign next to his that said, "Now there are two!"

This reminds me of when Emo Phillips got into a fierce argument with somebody during a blackjack game over what he considered an 'odd' number to be.

I love his humor! Thanks for bringing him up - you made my day!
