I don't have a fleeting thought, well I can't think of one at the moment

but I've had a recurring thought now for a week or so that I can't shake. It's about a mother charged with child neglect, having a very low IQ. It has scared me. I want to know if they test IQ on parents charged with neglecting their kids (as in the case I read about yesterday, 2 toddlers dead in their cot, died of malnutrition) I also read some articles about intellectually disabled mothers suffering much higher stress levels than ordinary ones. Really, raising a child is probably wayyyyy beyond their capabilities. Yet I'm scared, cause remember in the 50s they talked about sterilisation or "retarded" people, and that was thankfully not put into general practise, but WHAT IF doing that saved a whole heap of kids from a living HELL?

I'm thinking about this all the time - maybe it's not because they are capable of atrocities as much as they are completely incapable of parenting? I can't believe in "evil" but I believe in incomplete human beings, intellectually, spiritually, emotionally etc.
