I've never had much of an issue with my first name, but in grade school I played around with the spelling a lot.
My last name is hyphenated though, (mom's and dad's last names together) and I have been considering condensing it to something smaller. I want to respect what they did by giving me both last names, so I'm thinking I'll just take a syllable from each and combine them to make one name. Having a bit of trouble settling on a combo I like though. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

is bread pan in portuguese also? please Zombie, never confuse Portuguese with Spanish it?s a very complicated subject: conflicts ancestral, Iberian no... pan (bread) is pão (bread) in Portuguese... PETER >when i was small, always heard to say: the bread that Pan kneaded >therefore, yes it can be;a desire subliminar in the name; at least in the adolescence [Edited 9/17/09 20:30pm]

My first name is Irene, when I was growing up, no one my age was ever named Irene. It always seemed like it was someone's grandmother's name or someone's dead great aunt, was named Irene. Never mind the fact the old lady from the beverly hillbillies real name was Irene.
I wanted something american and cool, like Kimberly. I loved the name Kimberly growing up.

Correction, my dear Charlotte. Charlotte from sex and the city's baby name was suppose to be, "Shayla"

I always wanted the name Isaac. I have no idea why though..... ZombieKitten said: how do you pronounce your first name correctly? The "J" is prounced like "y". So, "Yari" I guess, but the "r" there is of course different than in English. Whilst the Swedish and Finnish ways to pronounce that letter aren't identical either, the Swedish way to say it would be still a whole lot closer to the Finnish one than the English.

I always thought if I ever became a famous writer, I would change my name. My given name is Kristi Nicola Dyes and I wanted to change it to
Nicki Christian-Day (not sure where that hyphenated stuff came from, I guess I was just trying to be different). When I told my uncle this he said that my name (first and last) was already unique and easy to remember. He was right. I did, however, go by K. Nicola Dyes in my byline when I was a reporter. my last name is shitty (not literally, smartasses) so I've always thought of having a different last name...it's worked out pretty well as a nickname but sometimes it's a lil' weird when folks find out that it's really my name...
