VMA's Red Carpet Fashion

.

someone forwarded this to me. thoughts on the grading?

---

Lady Gaga
Grade: A+
For her sheer originality, willingness to take incredible fashion risks, and that insane ensemble consisting of a feathered Jean-Paul Gaultier frock, bedazzled neck brace, and gold mask, Lady Gaga undoubtedly earned one of the night's highest marks.

Beyonce
Grade: A+
The super sexy "Single Ladies" singer and true class act rocked the red carpet in a fierce fire engine red pocketed mini, featuring a plunging neckline. Statement earrings, bangle bracelets, and sky-high heels completed her A-list look.

Taylor Swift
Grade: A-
Despite being dissed by Kanye West within the first few minutes of the show, Best Female Video winner Taylor Swift looked like a million bucks in a crystal-encrusted asymmetrical Kaufman Franco gown. Unfortunately, her loose updo lost her a few points, but her overall getup was gorgeous.

Jennifer Lopez
Grade: C-
The diva disappointed in a velvety Louis Vuitton loser and lace Christian Louboutin ankle boots.

Pink
Grade: A
The "So What" songstress and highwire flyer was chic and sleek in a studded leather Balmain mini and black patent pumps.

Shakira
Grade: A+
The "She Wolf" singer wore the exact same dress as Pink and barely beat her out -- but did -- thanks to the perfect pair of thigh-high boots.

Kanye West and Amber Rose
Grade: F
The inelegant rapper failed in innumerable ways at the VMAs, and his arm candy looked simply silly in a skintight snake-print jumpsuit.

Madonna
Grade: B
For once, Madonna didn't steal the spotlight. Instead, the Material Girl -- who opened the show with a tribute to the late Michael Jackson -- looked sophisticated in a black belted dress, matching boots, and bouffant.

Katy Perry
Grade: D-
The "Waking Up in Vegas" vixen channeled Sin City and bombed in a showgirl-inspired ensemble even Elizabeth Berkley wouldn't be caught dead in.

Kara DioGuardi
Grade: B+
Aside from her matronly 'do, the "Idol" judge was dressed to impress in a one-shoulder sheath and gothic accessories, including one of the evening's hottest pair of heels.

Leighton Meester
Grade: A-
The "Gossip Girl" star outshone many of her contemporaries thanks to a metallic Christian Cota mini, diamond accents, and embellished Giuseppe Zanotti booties.

Alicia Keys
Grade: A-
Jay-Z's on-stage accomplice delivered a fresh and feminine look in a sleeveless sequined dress, huge hoop earrings, and sexy studded stilettos.

Kristin Cavallari
Grade: B+
The former "Laguna Beach" baddie and new "Hills" resident popped a pose in a short sparkly number and yummy Yves St. Laurent platform heels.

Whitney Port
Grade: C-
The star of "The City" revealed a tad too much in her fashion-forward Christopher Kane creation. Her hoof-like shoes didn't help matters.

Amanda Bynes
Grade: C
The 23-year-old disappointed yet again by sporting her trademark snooze-inducing Herve Leger bandage dress.

Swift might bore the crap out of me, but she looked lovely.
Almost too classy for VMA's. lol

That hooker dress looked better on Shakira than Pink.

Gaga is fab, cuz you never quite know what the fuck you're lookin at.

J-lo's shoes were hawt.

Oh no, was there a catfight between Shakira and Pink? "Bitch you done did wear ma dress!".

The last chick is the only one I'd dare to go talk to at a night club. I'm not sure about granting Beyonce top marks either, Kanye looks ok. razz

I love Alicia and want her babies, but I do have to admit that sometimes I'm not so sure which one of us would be delivering them in such a case.

lol

I thought she was a disco-pocahontas! It's just pretty clear from any footage I've seen of her at these award shows that she has not worn a dress and heels prior to having her videos aired on MTV. Nothing wrong about that, but with some of these new, younger starlets it's pretty obvious that they just went from the tomboy / neighbourhood girl -look trying to emulate a diva for whetever publicity reasons. It's really not working if you're not coming off being comfortable with yourself in a single photograph.

I think Madonna's look for the evening was appropriate for the speech she had to give. She had to present the 'somber' note for the evening.

Lawd, Kanye and his homely looking big tittied girlfriend are a mess! lol

Madonna looks great.

I hate the way everyone else looks. lol

Lady Gaga tried, but it's too much covering her neck and face. Loved her performance, though.

Lady Gaga
I like this dress - minus the hat and the feathers right up against the face.

Beyonce
I like this. I'd wear it, in fact I have something very similar in a teal blue and black.

Taylor Swift
She looks nice but yawn

Jennifer Lopez
Absolutely awful. I think I've seen this outfit at a few strip joints in Quebec.

Pink

Shakira
Her body is way nicer than Pink's so she wore it way better.

Kanye West and Amber Rose
I like his weird garbage bag shirt. Her outfit is just plain gross. Hot body though.

Madonna
Meh

Katy Perry
this chick is a mess in so many ways.

Kara DioGuardi
yawn and I don't even really like the shoes....surprisingly.

Leighton Meester
I'm sorry, this outfit is terrible from head to toe.

Alicia Keys
Awful!! I doesn't even look like it fits right and she knew it so she threw on a belt - which looks even worse. lol

Kristin Cavallari
Meh

Whitney Port
Good lord, terrible. lol

Amanda Bynes
yawn

Lady Gaga gets an A++ for daring to chop the head off a black swan and then stick her head through its body. nod

I hope she gutted it first though.

I agree. It was quite appropriate for making a speech about yourself. nod

The dress also complimented the accessories on her face.

I love her. I see this as Lady Gaga's not-so-subtle tribute to Carol Burnett. It's a cross between Norma Desmond and Went with the Wind. "I saw it in the window and I couldn't resist."

I think she acted classy that night, and she looked nice as well.

Beautiful. Nice to see a young star have such style.

I like 'em both, but I think Shakira rocked it better. And they both should kick the shit out of somebody at Balmain for lying to them.

Two douchebags.

"Rhiannon rings like a bell through the night..."

I always love her shoes.
