Ebony Fashion Show Cancelled Due to Recession

http://eurthisnthat.com/e...recession/

Unfortunately this year, Ebony has decided not to hold their annual fashion show. The reasoning behind the absence of what is known as the biggest traveling fashion show in the world is that they want to maintain their excellence. They want to continue to reflect the community and what they want.

The decision was made by Linda Johnson Rice, daughter of former founder John H. Johnson. The decision she made to shut the doors for the 2009 season was a very responsible one. The goal of the company and where they are directing the business seems to be promising and along the lines of what the community as well as her father would have her do.

Read here to get information on the direction of the company and when we should gear up for the next show.

It's weird. I've always wondered how these shows survived. They don't do well in my area at all. They were big in the 80s, but in recent years, people only bought tickets to get the subscriptions to the magazines.

Yeah thats basically it. It's hard getting people to buy tickets in my area too because the shows are basically the same every year. I bought a ticket to support it last year because my chapter hosted it, but I didn't even go because its boring to me now. They should switch it up a bit so that people are leaving telling others who didn't attend how exciting it was. Maybe they are getting ideas for that now since they not having it this year.

I agree.

My mom used to go when it came to my hometown, but she said the same thing. She said it was dull seeing "those tacky and ugly clothes". lol

She ain't lying either!!!! It's just a bunch of neon lights flashing across clothes that you would never wear. Then the crowd goes wild when the plus models strut down the walk way. lol I mean i'm not against plus models, hell i'm far from skinny myself, but why is that the highlight of the show??? lol You know what I mean.
