cussed out a side judge for a bad foot fault call--

clijsters was winning a good match. serena gonna be waiting in the parking lot for her ass

side judge said serena threatened to kill her

i didn't hear that, but she was gracious and went over to clijsters and shook her hand.

update: she didn't quit. down 5-4, 15-40, a questionable foot fault on a second serve that even the crowd didn't like resulted in serena giving the judge a few f-bombs. she had a code of conduct warning earlier in the match for smashing her racket. the cursing out gave a clijsters a second point and that was the match

OTOH, the foot fault calls have been bothering me all tournament. It didn't look like a foot fault. I don't understand why they don't have a camera on the baseline so we can see it clearly. The whole replay system is in effect largely because Serena was cheated by some horrendous calls in a match on that court years ago. If they can now review line calls dealing with the ball, why can't they review line calls for foot faults?

I was a lil' suprised by Serena's outburst, she just lost it. After that it was downhill.....

I don't watch tennis. I had just finished watching a movie and was flipping channels, and thought, "Oh, Serena Williams is playing." So I started watching. I didn't understand the scoring AT ALL, and 1/2 of what the commentators were talking about, and was thinking, "And they say baseball is boring to watch "
But then THAT happened! I was shocked!!
(I still don't know what a "foot fault" is, BTW. )

I absolutely LIVE for baseball.
I listen to the games on the radio. U get much better play-by-play. On the TV, they assume U're watching, so they talk and tell stupid stories.

Anyway, the scoring is simple. The first point is 15, then 30, then 40, then game. If the players are tied at 40, it's called deuce and one player has to win 2 straight from that point to win the game. Each set (group of games) goes to 6 and you must win by 2. If the players are tied at 5-all they play a tiebreak (every point counts as 1 and you have to get to 7 and win by 2). You have to win 2 out of 3 sets to win the match.

That sounds extremely complicated, but you'd pick it up easily.
