IMO, Wilt was the GOAT.

Jordan was 9-0 in Championships.....

6-0 MJ was.

Russell was 9-10 in the Finals (in 11 seasons.)
Elgin Baylor was 0-8 in the Finals (11 seasons.)

Too bad he was suspended for gambling.....errrrr, I mean, he was playing baseball when the Rockets won back-to-back championships.

Of course, we all know Jordan had a losing record against the Rockets for his career, don't we?

Dude actually invited Leroy Smith to the event just to talk about him, classless (his beef should be with his high school coach, not him.) He then takes shouts at Zeke, Ice and Magic. The Bryon Russell story was cool though, that was out of respect.

Here is a quote from a Hall of Famer ...

"M.J. was introduced as the greatest player ever and he’s still standing there trying to settle scores," one Hall of Famer said privately later.

Man i wished i could have heard the audio on this speech. I was
vacationing in Myrtle Beach this weekend and saw the acceptance
speech at a Hooters but the audio was turned down. I knew MJ
wasn't squeaky queen but i never thought his acceptance speech
would go this way. eek

I know. The article made it sound like Jordan was dogging people out, which he wasn't. That was probably the coolest HOF I have ever seen. Mad props to Jordan on the HOF nod.

lol.....Wilt's competition would have a hard time playing against 2day's highschool players. What would Jordan's numbers have been back in Wilt's days? 60 points a game? The OBJECT of the game is 2 win.....not numbers.

This was the best part of Jordan. He destroyed everybody because they all were opponents, but when it came to the Knicks, it involved no little hatred and made everything bigger than life. Didn’t matter if it was Xavier McDaniel’s trying to invent Ultimate Fighting on the hardwood or Pat Riley’s ordering his thugs to play football in short pants or Van Gundy’s speaking his mind, there was always something more when it was Chicago-New York. Venom, enmity, good old-fashioned hate -- whatever you wanted to call it, our speakers always went to 11.

I posted this from another site about the Wilt vs. Jordan argument:

This is the great mythical argument against Wilt. True, he was bigger than everyone he faced but not by nearly the margin everyone says. During his rookie season, there was no starting center in the NBA under 6'8" and all but 2 went 6'9" or taller. And they weren't all white. When his last season rolled around, the league had doubled in size over the course of his career and most teams ran out a center who stood 6'10" or better and Wilt was no longer the tallest player in the league. That distinction belonged to Kareem. Oh, and they were mostly black. Despite the increasing size and ethnicity of his opponents and his advancing age (36) he still led the league in field goal % at a still unheard of 73% and rebounding at 18.6 per game.

Let's not also forget, at 7'1" and 275 lbs. (in his prime, he was actually around 300 when he retired) Wilt is still bigger than just about every center in the game today. A few guys are taller but only Shaq matches him in height and width (and skill). Wilt was no joke athletically, either. He was no big lumbering hulk. As a track athlete he competed in the high-jump, broad jump, shot put, ran the 440 and 880 and played pro-volleyball AFTER he retired from the NBA. I love Stoudemire and don't doubt he'd be a beast back then but saying Wilt could be no better than that now is insulting.

magic johnson

How so?

The man was a freak playing the point guard position. In his
prime dude was unstoppable. Who comes in the nba and be the
teams star in his rookie season and win a title playing a
position dominated by big guys. What dude have you ever seen
play the point guard position look an opposing player straight
in the eye(on a fastbreak)and throws a no look pass to his
teammate for a score. Nothing against Jordan. Jordan
was the best at defying gravity. The only players i've seen
come close to him in that area was Dominique and Erving.
Magic was ultracompetitive like Jordan and willed his team
to win the same way. Even as an opposing fan you had to appreciate
showtime in the 80's. It's no doubt in my mind had Magic's career
not been cut short,he would have been the all time assists leader
easily and won a couple more titles.

Lol. I know the bulls got them that year. If you watched the Lakers
run during the 80's whenever they lost a title,Magic would work his
ass off to make sure management would get the missing pieces to
contend for a title. He never got that opportunity. I actually would
have enjoyed watching him and Michael trying to one up each other for
the next few years.

African proverb: All truth is good, but not all truth is good to say.

There is a time and a place for everything. Michael will be remembered as one of the NBA's greatest, but his speech was petty and declassé. I don't think he knows what to do with himself without basketball. Holding onto old grudges when you're as great as Michael Jordan comes across as bitter and pathetic.
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Jordan never had to face teams deeply talented like the Celtics,Lakers,
or Sixers teams of the early eighties. Just like you say Jordan blocked
cats like Ewing,Barkley, and Malone from getting titles,Magic kept Bird and
Julius Erving from gettting more and Magic kept a lot of cats in the West
from even getting to the finals. I was too young to remember Wilt,Russell, and
some of the cats from that era. Just saying Magic is the best i've ever seen

I'm not disagreeing with the fact that he can say whatever he likes. But to do it at the Hall of Fame induction, where you are being honored, seems like a poor choice of timing. Tacky, imo. But then I never fell for the "Be like Mike" bullshit. People fell for his "nice-guy" façade, but anyone who lived in Chicago at that time (as I did) heard otherwise. That's one of the reasons I preferred Dennis Rodman. At least the Worm didn't act like a big fake. Asshole maybe, but fake? No. lol
