"Thursday’s victory might be costly, however—star safety Troy Polamalu(notes), the best player on the field during the first half, sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee on a blocked field goal. Coach Mike Tomlin said the injury usually sidelines a player 3 to 6 weeks." The Madden curse strikes again! Sept. 20th - Giants @ Cowbitches. Get ready for the ass-ramming! I'm sick now. Troy was having a MVP type game. Damn u Madden game. Look out Larry Fitzgerald. Don't laugh at my funk

I'm so over Romo and our lackluster defense it ain't even funny. Lackluster defense? maybe the secondary. The front seven is ferocious. Demarcus Ware makes it go. Demarcus of course is scary, sack leader and all that but the rest of em ain't nothing to write home about. Their inability to cause any interceptions or turnovers is not good. I don't think they had one in any of the preseason games. That ain't good. God forbid Ware gets hurt.

Beware the Curse of Madden
Sports curses (aside from the one that looms over the Chicago Cubs) aren't real. But try telling that to the football players who have graced the cover of John Madden's videogame only to suffer injuries shortly thereafter. Troy Polamalu is the latest star to experience the so-called "Madden curse." The all-pro safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers sprained his medial collateral ligament during Thursday night's game against the Tennessee Titans. Sports Illustrated reports that Polamalu could be out anywhere from three to six weeks. Not as bad as initially feared, but still rough enough to inspire a lot of lookups on "madden curse." Indeed, almost immediately after Polumalu left the field, folks at home began dialing up searches on past victims of the Madden curse. The list is long but distinguished. And while there are a few holes (Favre escaped '09 without injury), we imagine that Larry Fitzgerald, who shared the 2010 cover honors with Polamalu, might want to wear a little extra padding this season... 2010: Troy Polalmalu -- injured for three to six weeks. 2009: Brett Favre -- no injury, but as Yahoo! Sports points out, he did "become insufferable." 2008: Vince Young -- injured one game and played poorly. 2007: Shaun Alexander -- injured for six games due to broken foot. 2006: Donovan McNabb -- injured for seven games. 2005: Ray Lewis -- missed one game. 2004: Michael Vick -- injured for 11 games due to broken leg. 2003: Marshall Faulk -- out for six games. 2002: Daunte Culpepper -- missed five games.

When Shaun Alexander broke his foot. That really began the end of his time in the NFL. He never regained his momentum and was cut from the team the very next season.

Even tho the boys won, they looked sloppy as hell, Romo was inaccurate (despite having over 450 yards), still having ridiculous penalties, and that defense is very questionable. How you gon let a RB that ain't played in two years and had surgery on bof knees burn you on a play for 35 yards??? This was just a so-so team beating a mediocre one.

with that much offensive talent only scores 7 points against the worst defense in the league last season and lose to Kyle Orton? Marvin Lewis,Carson, and Ocho Cinco better right this ship or some heads gonna roll. I sure as hell hope they play like that against Pittsburgh in two weeks but i'm not counting on it. Jerry, Jerry, Jerry . . . sometimes he need to just keep his damn mouf shut. But, he did give us the scoop tho.
Jones fined at least $100K Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made a comment about revenue sharing and now he's sharing his revenue with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Jones has been fined at least $100,000 for violating a gag order on labor issues last week, according to league sources. Jones stated on Sept. 4 that revenue sharing is "on its way out," while doing a media interview originally intended to support Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf's quest for a new stadium. Revenue sharing is considered a critical component of the NFL's pending collective bargaining talks since the owners exercised an option in May 2008 to terminate the deal after the 2010 season. The union has maintained that the owners' biggest issue is amongst themselves because of the revenue sharing model and Jones' comments seemingly emboldened that position. Goodell had issued a gag order for all owners and team executives from discussing any aspect of the pending labor issues. Jones crossed the line, drawing a "six-figure" fine, sources said, as the commissioner distributed a memo Friday to all 32 owners, along with a reminder that the gag order remains in effect. Goodell did not disclose the specific amount of Jones' fine in the memo. A league spokesman declined to confirm or deny the fine, labeling such an issue as an "internal matter." Jones didn't apologize for his comments in a statement released Sunday. "If my comments in Minnesota were viewed as being over the line, then so be it," he said. "The comments were made in an effort to assist a fellow NFL owner and his team's pursuit of bringing a new stadium to the fans of the Twin Cities. Having just completed the process of stadium construction, and knowing how much it means to an NFL market, this is something that I would do for any of my ownership partners. It just goes to show how intertwined labor issues are with the construction of new stadiums -- from a positive perspective." When he was last heard from in Minnesota as the Cowboys wrapped up the preseason, Jones tried to send a message to assist Wilf's efforts for a new stadium. He made himself available to the Minnesota media as a favor to Wilf, according to a Cowboys source. "Right now, we are subsidizing this market," Jones said. "It's unthinkable to think that the market you've got here, with 3.5 million people, and have teams like Kansas City and Green Bay subsidizing this market. That will stop. That's going to stop. That's called revenue sharing. That's on its way out."

Bears down by 2, they choose 2 kick an extra point. 2 wasted challenges losing 2 time outs. The most predictable offense in the U.S. including college and H.S. Bears coaches also may take the blame for a regrettable decision to try a fake punt on fourth and 11 from their own 26. Who does this kind of nonsense? [Edited 9/14/09 7:21am]
