At 8 years kids are kind
BUT between 10 and 12 ..... I like Walter it's a good name. did you look it up to see what it means? That may help you decide. P.s I'm sure the Teacher meant well - he was prob trying to give some constructive criticism but his lack of communication skills may have let him down. He was solely relying on his good looks I guess.

It's nice the teacher cares enough about your son to even think of that, but it's your decision, not his.

I would like it to be my son's. Ben was born Benjamin, but he only gets called that when he is in trouble He is registered as Ben at school, but if he ever wants to revert back thats fine with me. As u say charlotte, its ultimately the childs decision seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before

I wouldnt change a name because of the teacher's projected issues toward it- what's his name by the way?
when a child is born you name him out of love. that name is all a child has that belongs to him exclusively. for everything else he has to wait to be given by his parents and other adults, ie- food, clothes - in his mind his name is his and can't be taken away. ...don't take his name away...don't put that nonesense in his head LOVE HARD.

You have a problem when it's the teacher handing out nicknames (and not good ones at that), that's my problem. I very kindly said if he calls my son that again, I'll take it further. He's decided to go back to teaching sport.
Kids if they want to pick on you will find any reason. I spent most of my life disliking my surname and my nose, but now I love it.

One of my cousins and one of my uncles have that name. I don't like it and nobody names their kids Walter anymore these days, but I love "Wally" . There is also a stupid comedy song named "Mein Gott Walter" from the 70s or 80s. With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

That teacher was out of line...
I'm a teacher. Even when I look at the list and think, "WTF?!" I'd never say it to the parent! And there's NOTHING wrong with Wally. My middle name is Mariah, named after my great grandmother. When the kids found out- back in the late 70s/early 80s- I was called "Mariah the Papaya" in a stupid chant. Then that singer came along in 1991, and now it's a cool name that a lot of kids have. Pop culture is funny... "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"
