When your classmates are named Apple and Seven and Rebel, who's going to kick your ass for being named Sparrow? Touche On the other hand I understand the need for people to be stand out-ish and unpredictable, but not on the expence of making your child a social outcast,,,,he's not gonna hang out with famous kids all time, and who's to say his parents will stay being famous? I'm just saying lol and 1/2 of them will probably say to their kids when they grow up "I named you such & such, because it sounded like a good idea at the time" Let's be honest here though. So-called unusual names are more often as time goes by, not. The list of popular names for any given recent year are increasingly adding names that were before unheard of, even thought freakish. Diversity in naming is just what's done now in many communities. Most of the kids under the age of 10 that I know of personally have names that would have been considered weird even a generation or two ago, but now really don't stand out all that much. Kids I know: Ezekiel Hyacinth Winter (boy) Winter (girl) Aaliyah Charmaine Meadow Logan (girl) Among my own age group (20's) I know personally people named Haakon, Aphrodite, Artemis, Kenji, Sunshine, Windy, Carver, Lilac, and Crystal Sailor. We sound like a goddamn Roald Dahl book. But it's just not that odd. Today's kids are just as likely to have a classmate named Rock as they are to have one named Jason. Particularly the boys named Hawk, Fox and Housecat. Exactly. I think only "Wren" would've been a worse choice. No, Sparrow's still the worst. | |
