Happy New Year! I had a wonderful 2002. It was probably the best year of my life. And I have high hopes for the coming year.
What did y'all do for the holidays. Tell us about your year. Any New Year's Resolutions? What are your hopes and plans for 2003?

What did y'all do for the holidays. Tell us about your year. Any New Year's Resolutions? What are your hopes and plans for 2003? 2002 was a big year for me. It began with me living in Michigan with my bro on my year off from school. It was a blast! Then I became an org fanatic and was blessed to meet all of you lovely people. A road trip to the South was great fun in March. Things were going nicely up until June. Then the Celebration happened, and what a fantastic time it was! I got to meet so many of you. It was a very emotional, energetic and spiritual time. It was kind of a coming of age thing for me as well- I really felt on top of things there and confident. I also bonded with many people. It was unforgettable. Then the pressure of the grad school mounted until I moved out here. It was a lot to deal with. Moving here was difficult, but my brother came along and made it 10 times easier. I met some good friends and adjusted to graduate level work. Teaching became a surprising passion of mine. However, it grew lonely as well here. Not many people share my aesthetic. I came home for break burnt out on school and ready for some relaxation. My break went really well. I got to spend time with all of the people I had hoped to and also got to escape from math and my loneliness there. Decorating Christmas cookies and buying presents was in order. Christmas day itself was wonderful. I got to give my bro the best gift ever. It felt really good to be a part of something, a family, again. We threw my parents a surprise party for their 30th anniversary which was very fun. It made me feel like an adult. Then I went to Chicago to visit friends and danced my life away! I had great fun with Natasha (not from the org) and Jessica (otherwise known as themostbeautifulgirlntheworld). I was lucky enough to attend the Prince party in Chicago which turned out to be a pleasant surprise as I saw so many of my Detroit Prince friends there. Unfortuantely, my partying also made me sick. I came back for a low-key New Year's celebration and returned to Utah yesterday. However, there was bad news awaiting! I live in a duplex with 2 other guys. We absolutely love our place- it has 3 bedrooms, 3 floors and is RIGHT downtown. The place itself was one thing that helped me survive the semester. However, I learned that it had been purchased by someone else who was not going to renew our lease. Our lease expires at the end of the month. So we're left having to look for a place that won't be as good as our current one. We'll have to move out during the middle of the semester. And we'll lose the location most likely. My hopes for 2003 are to find a good place and to have a somewhat sane semester. I also hope I can visit Australia sometime. I didn't really have a resolution, but I would like to grow closer to God. I feel like I've drifted a bit amidst my crazy schedule. I also would like to garner the strength to endure the stress of moving and another trying semester. I also hope that the Celebration this year can at least compare somewhat to last year's wonder.

Ex-Moderator | The year was pretty good, in my book. It had some highlights (the Celebration and meeting you guys, a fabulous Vegas vacation with 15 of my best friends, finally feeling like I'm getting somewhere at my job, making new friends and becoming even closer with the ones I've got) and it had some downfalls (which shall remain nameless).
My New Year's Eve was the best in recent memory, full of fun, fashion (I looked DAMN good!), friends, dancing, mischief, laughter and music. A girl couldn't ask for more. As for resolutions? I HAVE TO force myself to go back to school this year. I've been putting it off for way too long. And I plan to quit smoking (!!) sometime this year. Sometime soon. Really. I promise. |

I quit in August and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I had smoked for 10 years and one day decided I wasn't going to anymore and it was a very wise decision I do believe.

Good luck to you Carrie.
But just remember what Mark Twain said: "Quitting smoking is easy, I've done it many times."

I had a very good year. I got out of the icky corporate job I had. Spent a few months working overnites (well gettin paid to Org all nite) and then eventually landed in the job I really wanted. HOORAY!! My (looong) journey thru school continues, but I finished my last 'general' classes in the fall, so the end is in sight. I got my house fixed so i no longer have to worry about my bathroom falling in my kitchen!
Socially, they year had some higlights. Took a trip to Dallas and got to bond with Rio outside of the confines of the celebration. (Thanks Rio!) Took a fantastic roadtrip to Chicago with some great friends. Then came the most amazing celebration I ever could've imagined. Not only was Prince stupendous, but I met some of the greatest people in the world (you know who you are!) I also finally gave into the evil ways of the org and have gotten to know many more beautiful people. Oh yeah people told me I went to Las Vegas around my birthday, but I don't know if I remember that! In 2003 I will eat great food and enjoy great drinks. Study hard and study fast. Travel whenever possible and stay connected with the pals I have around the globe. Put lots of color in my house. Love my kitties, love my friends and love my man. In 2003 I will NOT quit smoking! I'm not ready to try that again till I finish school...

2002 was a bit of a shitty year. Started to enjoy college, got a bit nuts with my dormmates, and got a taste of where I want to go in life. Finally shed the controlling, overprotective presence of my boyfriend (now my ex) in July and immediately went straight into the arms of somebody who wasn't right for me at all.
Started school again in September - it was even better living off campus and feeling so goshdarned independent. Had a great job as a writing tutor which has now extended into this quarter! Very much single for the first time in a long time and just as it was getting old and stale I found someone who makes me incredibly happy, stimulates my mind and body and soul and all that good stuff. 2003 has gotten off to a rough start but hopefully it is all behind me! I'll be school for the rest of the year, even doing summer session, growing closer to my boyfriend (my first 'grown-up' relationship I guess you could say) and maybe hightailing it out of here in September to England to once again enjoy the single life. And maybe meet a few orgers along the way! In this coming year I want to write more. A lot more. I mean, like, where is the sun?
