I wish I had an undiscovered talent like that! I wish I would discover one day that I am very good at hairdressing for example. Which after 15 odd years of cutting hair, I should have come to the conclusion is NEVER going to happen pout

I think, for me it was a case of 'I'm not forking out all that money for a bloody cake - I'll do it myself!!'. Don't be too impressed, I went to art college for 2 years and have been crafting (mainly cards, but also silver jewellery, hand painting vases and a small amount of scrapbooking) for YEARS

I think that everyone's got something in them that they're really good at.. only they don't know it, coz they've never tried it! For you, I'm thinkiiiiing... underwater basket weaving giggle

Thank you everyone for your kind comments - I knew I could count on you lot for an ego boost! lol

And now... for my next trick.... A Tiara Cake....

My friend ordered this cake for her daughter's 5th birthday on saturday, but now I'm gutted because I want to keep it for MY daughter pout

Again with the chocolate cake (is there any other kind?!) I made the tiara with sugar paste and a fancy kind of powdered paint that you mix with vodka absolut which I just happend to have in my freezer innocent (the alcohol evaporates... unfortunately!) So... yeah. Ta-daaaah!

(Btw - I just noticed that it looks as though there's a star stuck to the middle peak of the tiara.. it isn't - it's a part of the burst behind it!)

I had to google 'Cake Boss' as I'd never heard of it.. 2 things:

1) Yaay! I'll watch these - I've been watching 'Ace of Cakes' so it'll be fantastic to see more cakey shows! lol

2) BIG hug I've had a look at some of his cakes and they're fabulous! I don't think mine will even get close to his though lol

Very, very nice.
Are you making money off these cakes? You should. nod
There was a lady in my town who made a very decent living selling Dominican cakes (as in the Dominican Republic) that she baked in her tiny little apartment kitchen. She made our wedding cake in fact.

Those are excellent! thumbs up!

My Mum makes cakes but she "paints" on the top. Cartoon characters, caricatures, personal stuff, etc, rather than the 3D stuff you do. And only for family/friends. There's always a demand for them, even for her and her restrictions. smile

If you're not selling these, you should give it some serious thought. You'll not be idle or poor! Think of the exposure/word-of-mouth at every event/party! nod

Outstanding! biggrin

This one is my eldest daughters 5th birthday cake. She loves High School Musical so I made her this one! I'd told her that I'd made a baby cake for her, with teletubbies etc on it - bless her, despite her obvious disappointment she was very gracious as she knew I'd spent a lot of tome making her a cake mushy you should have seen her face when she saw THIS...

Ok, here's one you might all be interested in.. I made this for a VERY special orger friend of mine. It was his birthday last week so I made him this cake. Unfortunately it didn't arrive in quite the same condition as it left me in. I'm pretty sure he won't mind me putting a pic of it up on here...

My daughter's Christening cake! After about 3 weeks of planning, tutorial watching, book scouring, then 4 days of baking, whipping (whip), rolling and modelling - here it is...

... now, be kind, it's the first cake I ever made...

We had the christening on sunday.. unfortunately I have no decent shots of the little lady herself - I was so busy running around, organising, heating food, pouring drinks and generally playing the hostess etc and no-one else thought to pick up the camera rolleyes I'll have to do what I did with my eldest daughter and dress her back up in her gown and take pics at home thumbs up!
