Madonna and Sean Penn: Round 2?

Madonna and Sean Penn had a tumultuous relationship in the late ‘80s. The actor and the pop star married in 1985 and during their four years of not-so-wedded bliss Penn was prone to violent outbursts. Nonetheless, Madge dedicated her third studio album "to the coolest guy in the universe".

Sadly, the power couple divorced in 1989. Twenty years and a couple of marriages later, Madonna and Sean Penn are both single and possibly ready to mingle (with each other).

A friend tells In Touch that Madonna, 51, and Sean, 49, have stayed in touch since having cocktails last November at New York's Greenwich Hotel and have helped each other through their respective splits (her from Guy Ritchie and him from Robin Wright).

The source goes on to say that even though the Material Girl has been gallivanting around with model Jesus Luz, "Madonna still considers Sean her soul mate."

So is a Madonna and Sean reunion in the works?

"It's highly possible that she and Sean will somehow get back together now that they'll both be divorced," the friend dishes.

There's a really cute story about Sean Penn during the filming of MILK.

Sean Penn was reportedly so excited about his first same-sex kiss on the set of new film Milk that he texted his one-time wife Madonna about it.

Sean stars as San Francisco’s first openly gay politican Harvey Milk in the biopic and locks lips with co-star James Franco, who plays Milk’s boyfriend Scott Smith.

James told the Mirror recently: “After our kiss, Sean texted Madonna and said, ‘I just popped my cherry kissing a guy. I thought of you. I don’t know why’.”

I remember how touching it was when they asked Madonna in the documentary TRUTH OR DARE who the love of her life was. She said it was Sean.

i doubt it, but stranger things have happened.

I'm not holding my breath. I doubt they will get back together.

I just read two weeks ago that Madonna and Guy Ritchie may get back together again.

But I also read that Madonna recently said that she loves Jesus.

yeah cuz at that time she was dating Warren Beatty, right? Guess it didn't matter too much since he really didn't care about her. I remember it was some snide comment he made about Madonna in the documentary, though I can't remember exactly what he said.

Thats my thoughts too. Then again, its still possible, but I believe if they did hypothetically get back together, it wouldn't last very long.
