What's Everyone's Favorite Film Directors/ Favorite Films, Genres etc

Hey everyone wave

So my three loves in life

Music
Movies

Martial arts is third but this one is just for the movies

What is everyone’s favorite directors?, Movies?, Genres?, Eras? etc

My favorite directors include

David Lynch
Martin Scorsese
Dario Argento
Alfred Hitchcock
Clint Eastwood
Elia Kazan
John Carpenter
Oliver Stone
Francis Ford Coppola
Russ Myers
Stanley Kubrick
Jean-Luc Godard
D.W Griffin
George Ramiro
Ingmar Bergman
Wes Craven
Frank Zappa biggrin
Spielberg
Quentin Tarantino
Melvin Van Peppels

& A Special Tribute to Kevin Smith:D

He’s not one of the greatest per say but he is always willing to talk about every little detail of how he got a film made and how you can to, And he also talks about how he funds it and if he makes a mistake ALA Jersey Girl he admits it and takes it with pride and so….

For that he is also on my list(:

As for favorite movies ow baby not enough time lol

But what’s everyone else’s favorite directors/movies/genres etc biggrin

Hiya. wave

I've mentioned this in another thread but my all-time favourite director is Wong Kar Wai, very closely followed by Alfred Hitchock. Both absolutely fantastic.

Hal Hartley

I used to love his movies, Amateur & Henry Fool in particular. I'm very out of touch with these things now, & haven't seen one of his films in years.

Shunji Iwai, Ron Fricke, Atom Egoyan and Thomas Vinterberg are pretty cool. Mainstream-wise, I don't mind Christopher Nolan, Johnny To, Tsui Hark and Martin Scorsese (sometimes). I also hope Mark Romanek does a few more films.

2046 is well worth a watch, as are Days of Being Wild and My Blueberry Nights (although that one has a very non-Asian ending)

Glad to see another fan! nod

Happy Together is still my favourite movie of all time.

Yes, Baraka is my favourite film of all time. You'll be pleased to know he's filming the sequel, Samsara, right now wink He hasn't done many films but what little he has made is interesting work. Check out Sacred Site, Chronos and Zion Canyon if you can track them down.
