what to do when you absolutely LOATHE your job?

I am so pissed at the thought of my job. It's little shit but it just builds and builds every day and there's no relief from it. I'm sick and tired of dealing with idiots...both people I work with and clientele, and it's a shame really. I just have a really low tolerance for people who ask the same stupid question every day, who have no initiative, and just those plain irritating types who always act like their shit don't stink. stfu

Before you ask, why don't I leave it...there's 2 reasons. First off it's a specialized career, and I've had other jobs and it's basically the same bullshit everywhere you go. Second, I raise a kid now so I just can't think of myself.

There are other people at my job who are just as tired of dealing with the bullshit too, so it's not just my imagination. Like today, a coworker asked another coworker to do something and that bitch had the nerve to say she didn't know how to do it. This bitch has been working there for over 6 months and it was something she should have known how to do! I wanted to say, "bitch, why don't you finally go learn to do your damn job then" but of course you cannot talk to people like that wink At least try to pretend you care "I don't know how to do that but I will go and find out right now and get it done" What happened to respect in the workplace and pride in yourself?

Anyway I just totally needed to vent on my job sitch sad

Thank goodness I do not work at the post office johnwoo uzi machinegun shoot2 shoot3 missile laser

If you can't leave your job then try this....

think of the positives..

Do you help people? If yes, then think of all the good you do.

If you have a slacker that you feel you are towing, tell tell him or her so.

If I felt that way I would just not do any work for them, and respond, "Why is it that you can not accomplish this task? You do realize this is part of your job requirement."

and don't forget to treat yourself with a little something, at your workplace... a piece of gourmet chocolate, fresh flowers at your desk, fun pictures/comics or any thing that brings a smile to your face. Go ahead, you deserve it. hug

In time, when you are ready, you may want to seek a different profession, or seek a an interest in the form of a hobby during your spare time. Anything that makes you feel happy and full-filled, this way the daily grind won't eat at you so to were you hate being at your job.

If you have any vacation then take that or a leave of absence for a break.

While working apply for other jobs.

my job has actually gotten better. we got new management in my department at the beginning of the year, including a new team leader who's been absolutely fantastic, and the base dread of coming to work every day has pretty much been vaporized as far as i'm concerned. there are still things that suck and there are still days when i go home feeling like my brain has been completely pillaged, but i have to remember that's what jobs do to people, even the jobs people claim to love.

sometimes i think about walking away from my job and throwing myself into the things i love doing and seeing what happens - i feel like i'm still at a point in my life where i can take ONE last big risk like that - but while i'm figuring out how to make that happen, at least i know i'm making that decision because i want my life to be more fulfilling, not because i'm absolutely miserable and need to plan some kind of emergency escape from the job from hell. for that i'm at least moderately grateful. lol

I have issues with the way the company I work for is managed. But I love what I do. And with that said I make the most of it. A lot of peeps would kill for a full time salaried w/benefits position right now. I've made some great friends working here and I'm learning a lot about what I want and don't want as far as my career. God is good.

Sit back and think about that you should be thankful that you have a job. You could be like me, sitting at home drawing unemployment, wondering what the fuck you are going to do when it runs out. pout

Be thankful you even have a job, so many people out there do not have any income. I love my job 95% of the time, but on those off days..I stop and tell myself I should be thankful to have a job that pays the bills. cool

I was just having the "remember when I was sooo broke all I could afford was ramen noodles and dollar menu" coversation. So of course I am grateful for a job But it's starting to cause me mental and physical anguish. I have bad insomnia, my blood pressure is up..

Collecting unemploymnet....yup, did that too. I've worked for many years, and I would have a great SSI check....if there would be SSI when I turned 65 sad

I pray for everyone who needs a job. And I hope when you do find one it's not one where you deal with constant idiots, get fucked over on your salary and time, and makes you feel like life is just plain abhorrent.

Where do you work?

at a law firm, doing document formatting work. i've been doing the same kind of work for about 10 years now, on and off (mostly on). i'm at a point now that i can finally tolerate my work environment, but i feel like it's past time for me to get away from this line of work, unless i'm satisfied doing this when i'm 50 or 60...while the pay and benefits are just peachy, the thought of doing this for the long haul doesn't satisfy me at all.

Mainly my coworkers. On my shift, I get stuck with the most generic ignorant, closed minded girls ever. My desk is sandwiched in between them too. sad There's no escaping. wall I also have a supervisor/group leader,a minister at a Baptist church, who believes that Obama is the anti-christ. She won't fully admit it, but she was making comparisons from whatever part of the Bible to Obama. I'm thinking, if you don't really believe that.....then why bring up the "comparisons". I'm coming off as slightly anti-social because I don't partake in bs drama at work. I can go on all day about my coworkers, but I won't. lol Oh, and it's definitely not worth the pay.

it sounds like we work at the same place! eek

though i will say, i at least get paid enough to put up with the reactionary right-wing smack talk, which thankfully seems to be less frequent these days anyway.

I'm starting to think that no amount of money can make me put up w/ it. lol You spend a good bit of your time around your coworkers, and I just don't want to be irritated/miserable for that time.

Of course in general, but there are hardly any men that work in the department where I work. In fact, on my shift there are only two. They're laid back and pretty cool though.....almost the total opposite of the babbling morons I sit by. I just know that one of the girls across from me has ADD, but refuses to take Adderall/meds. I get the holistic approach to life, but when your condition is affecting others, then maybe you should consider some sort of treatment. She's on her last legs for being disruptive/excessive talking. I think one more write up or call into the office will send her packing.

THIS IS MY JOB!!!!! I have been off work for the last 3 weeks due to medical reasons, I could have gone back in 2 days, but I milked it for all that I could with my FMLA,tv I work (4) (10)hr days and going back tomorrow leaves me a 2 day work week to complete...I am counting the hours until tomorrow morning, I have a throbbing headache it feels like there is a PARTY party going on in my head.

LOATHE is putting it mildly, I am paid nicely and try and rationalize the fact, however sometimes a piece of mind is better than a salary....I try to motivate myself by saying there are people out here that aren't working so I am blessed in that aspect...But Damn!

When I say GHETTO, My that's putting it mildly...the bickering stops just short of fighting...I have never seen anything like it...NEVER...! One employee made (50) phone calls from her desk phone to a radio station to win Lil Wayne tickets, when there were calls holding...Yes! she is now on a FINAL corrective plan, but I ask myself what the F*** were you thinking!

I was so happy to see that I am not the only one venting!!!!! I see a change is gonna come..Not sure how much longer I am going to be able to do this!!!

it is mostly women at my job and that makes for estrogen toxicity AKA excessive bitchiness, but when we do get a few men, they are bitchy too, except for the boss. He just looks beat at this point. The manager is a two faced bitch. We got lil "I spy" issues daily now, which I just got written up for some bullshit because these bitches will call the manager at home and tell her all sorts of stupidity that she believes.

I'm just sick of it all, sick of dealing with people, sick of never getting appreciation yet let something wrong happen and folk jump all in my ass, tired of being disrespected. My head hurts from all the unnecessary drama. And having to bite my tongue and "fake it to make it". Fuck it.

Yesterday I was trying to eat and some dumbass lays the dustpan right next to my food as she was sweeping. Ewwww.
