Hoarders - A&E show .

I watched an episode last night . In some strange way - I relate to these people - NOT THAT I HAVE ANYTHING LIKE THESE HOMES - but i tend to save crap that really just sits ... and sits ...

anybody else watch this ?

I have actually been in a few houses that looked like this too .... one in particular was just bizarre in so that you couldnt walk or see 90% of the house ... they had "paths" thruout the crap eek ... it was kinda funny and i took pics i brought back to my office and showed my co-workers ... but you do realize there is a mental issue... confused

I'm just the opposite. My mom is like this (not to the extent of the people in this show) but because of it I throw EVERYTHING out. I can't stand clutter. I'm constantly going through closets and drawers to get rid of.....

i watch that show "intervention" sometimes too - I am always amazed at what "triggers" some of the behaviors that we have .... and ... i often relate them to my life ... (but i have never had those types of issues) wink

I saw this show Monday while I was waiting for Paranormal State to come on.
It is so sad and painful to watch. I don't know if I'll watch it again, it's just disturbing. One lady had to get her house clean so her sick husband could come home and then they were talking about how he was an abusive alcoholic and her hoarding was her reaction to all that. Painful situation all the way around.

I'm OCD on the other end of the spectrum biggrin , constantly straighten things up, but I can see how this can happen.

Ooh I want to watch this show.
I'm fascinated by hoarding. I actually love getting rid of stuff. It's very liberating. lol
Every so often we change decor and it's out with the old in with the new.

I know someone who's sometimes close (borderline) and someone I suspect might be a hoarder.

I save stuff but I'm not a hoarder. These people save little pieces of paper and garbage and stuff. I could never live like that. I really feel sorry for these people.

I definately want to watch the show.

I hardly save anything. Aside from some books and music, I rarely ever possess anything for over 2 years. When I am done using something, I generally get rid of it one way or another.

I love watching Intervention, but I doubt I will ever watch Hoarders.

I think it's normal. Most compulsive behavior seems to relate to normal stuff. Like washing your hands. It's healthy to do it regularly, some people do it more than others, and some do it 500 times a day.

Most of us have too much stuff, but these people have spun way out of control to where they can't even get to certain rooms in their house, or they have to sleep on the toilet because there is no flat space left.

These people drive me crazy! I had an aunt who was a hoarder. We would go to her house and try and help her clean it up and she wouldn't let you throw shit away. You'd go over there and there was absolutely nowhere to sit in the house but where she sat an the fucking toilet, it drove me nuts. After seeing this show I have a little better understanding of it. To bad she passed a couple of years ago, maybe we could have gotten her some help.
If you're not doing the fucking, then you're taking one.
