Seriously, people know the WWE is fake right?

The Make A Wish Foundation and the WWE sent wrestlers to my job at Cold Stone to raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation. Evan Bourne and Mickie James. I'm not a wrestling fan so I had no idea who they were, but people lined up to see them. Didn't sell much ice cream but Make A Wish got plenty of donations so it's all good. As a thank you, the crew got free tickets to the show at Joe Louis Arena.

Why are grown people freaking out over this mess? It's more rehearsed than the ballet! I mean really, it's so obviously fake!

Please explain.

not a fan of wrestling myself. but i believe its their favorite form of escapism.
people who love star trek will go and lose themselves in star trek conventions. people currently are losing themselves in urban fiction novels. people find ways to escape reality by drugs, music, etc.

I'm glad it was free. I had great seats that would have cost $70 @ otherwise. What does paying the much to see fake violence say about our society. The WWE doesn't even fly they're wrestlers to shows they had to drive. I don't think the wrestlers make really big money unless they get as big as The Rock or Hulk Hogan, but the owners are raking it in.

They sent Evan Bourne? lol lol I mean dude's talented but he's still "opening match" status

Pro Wrestling is a mix of soap opera, fighting, and all out entertainment

Wrestlers do make a great deal of money. Guys like John Cena, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Sting, Booker T, Kevin Nash, and others are pretty much millionaires

I'm not sure there's anyone over the age of 10 who really believes it's real. They like it for the drama, the storylines, and the spectacle. It's a socially acceptable way for men, and for women who wouldn't be caught dead watching The Young and The Restless, to enjoy soap operas.

I never cared for WWE et al, but real wrestling is pretty awesome though.

I don't follow it but do enjoy it on the odd occasion when I do see it. I love computer games, my wife doesn't see the point. My mum loves soap operas, I don't see the point. All 3 of us love Prince music but nobody else in our families get it.

It's entertainment that's all, to each their own.

Cause it's another form of entertainment on TV - similar to the lip-syncers out there who ppl pay alot of money to go see lip-sync at a concert confused

Yeah, it's all fake, but the guys have a whole lot of talent, IMHO. They do some insane physical stunts, especially considering how much they weigh.

nod

It's entertainment, pure and simple.

As for the "fake" part...the drama and "beatings" are fake, but the physical punishment that those guys endure is 100% real. I think that if somebody picked me up and threw me from the top of a turnbuckle onto a rubber mat 25-feet below, I would end up paralyzed for life. You can't deny that those guys are athletes, pure and simple.

Think of the lion tamers at a circus. We all know that the animals are tame in comparison to those in the wild...but would YOU walk in one of those cages???

Wrestling was more believable in the 70's under Jim Crockett's
umbrella during the NWA heyday. Vince McMahon came around in
the late 80's and turned it from an art form into a traveling
circus.

I was a fan of WWF back in the day - I lost interest in the late 90s so I didn't even know who the Rock was or Stone Cold...I just resently got back into it b/c of my boys...We watch RAW and have attended our first show 2 months ago. It's just entertainment and I know that it takes a lot of hard work to stay in shape and be on que. If anyone slips up, they could be seriously hurt or killed. My boys know that it is only entertainment. I have a secret obsession now and that is to not miss a show LOL! It gives me something to talk to my boys about and we have connected so much more! cool
Um... let me warm up my vocals

WCW was still good in the 90s

I dont watch anymore, but I cant see why people get so uptight over it. Of course it's fake, just like CSI, Twilight and True Blood. Every TV show and movie (even most reality) is scripted. So why does wrestling get such a bad rap?

I see a helluva lot more violence on tv then I do on WWE.

Just me..
