No love for Batman: Arkham Asylum?

I know there are some gamer nerds on here. Is Arkham Asylum not:

1. One of the best games of the year?
2. The best representation of the Dark Knight in the video game medium? The greatest superhero game ever?

Arkham Asylum - Video Games = The Dark Knight to Movies

Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

Worth picking up? What's the gameplay style? I'm tired of Infamous and need a new game.....

Gameplay is part Metal Gear Solid, part button masher. You can choose to sneak or do battle and the combat can be button mashing or timed strikes. After the story, you can play challenge maps to test your combat and sneaking skills.

I can't do the game justice, but a demo should be available for download on the PSN.

If you're playing infamous, I assume you have a PS3. On that console, you get a batcave space for PS Home, and you can play the challenge maps as the Joker.

I still bought it on 360 for the graphics and better controllers, but that's definitely a PS3 bonus.

Its entirely true to the root of Batman and the new Bat.

But, it ain't my type of game, i like the more abstract, innovative or emotional ones. Like Flower, Ico, Silent Hill 2, Shenmue, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Shadow of the colossus, MGS.

You got the PS3 version? Thats the best version, got joker as a playable.

damn, I didn't know it came out already! It looked totally awesome in the magazine I read. I don't really buy games unless they have a whole bunch of replay value (online play, sports and fighting games are the exception), so I'm gonna rent this and try it out. thumbs up!

Playing the story mode unlocks like 16 challenge maps. Replay is very high if you enjoy the sneaking and fight mechanics in the game.

Hey thanks Mars!
I went down to EB to see if came out and the lads there were pissed that the local K-Mart put it up a day early so they sold it to me.

Brilliant game. I'm really enjoying it.

Yeah, well, FF has been down ever since Squaresoft became Square-Enix. Last great one was X.

I could talk all day about Silent Hill 2. It is the biggest work of artistic storytelling in game history. Tops that of many films.
Infact, i was arguing with a dumb critic about how Silent Hill 2 is yet to be topped for poetic storytelling in games, just the other day.

Genius creation that sadly got lost to an American developer (Origins and Homecoming) and got butchered into a commercial mess.

Bought it, knocked it over, loved it.

I'm a bat-fanatic ever since waaay back when I was a kid and I felt like a kid playing this. Loved the little bios for great and obscure characters like Ratcatcher and even recent ones like Humpty and the Great White Shark.

I was extra-impressed with Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy and was thinking "wow they've really nailed them". Then I saw the end credits and discovered it was written by Paul Dini, which explains it all. biggrin

I did find the constant Joker voice-overs were too often though. When there's lots of things to run around and find in a game I don't really want to hear the same things over and over again.

8/10 biggrin

It lost a point for the explosives not being able to be attached to a batarang and detonated remotely. For some reason I found that annoying.

Played the challenge maps yet? Some are damn near impossible to get gold on. I can get the sneaking challenges, but combat has to be flawless to get the medals.

Not yet - those sorts of things tend to irritate me because I'm such a perfectionist. Will give them a go if I feel in the mood. smile
