The Bears won't be creating 40 plus turnovers this year. Won't happen.

He got criticized by the defensive coach, had a hissy fit and stormed out. He came back later, met with the coaches and Jerry Reese. I'm sure he'll be fined.

Hell yeah! I went to college with Dickerson. He was unbelievable. If he had the hype that Elway had at the beginning of the year, he would have won the Heisman.

Hell, if he hadn't split the tailback position with Craig James, he'd have set a rushing record that I bet would still stand today.

And the great thing about Eric was that in four years at SMU splitting time with James, he never once complained about it. Neither did James, who would have been an All-American in his own right.

The Pony Express was awesome!

Yeah, no doubt. But I think the only injury he's had in his career is a collar-bone break, which is a freak thing. So hopefully, he's not injury-prone.

He has been nicked up quite a bit since coming 2 the league, he still plays though.

Better.
I thank the Cleveland Browns daily for passing on Petersen and taking
Joe Thomas. Had the browns taken Petersen a couple of years ago, they
would be competing for the Afc North every year instead of the nfl draft
top 5 pick.

Man Dickerson is the smoothest running back that i've ever seen play.
The guy just ran the football like he was jogging or high stepping.
I enjoyed watching him at SMU and the nfl.
Unfortunately, his internal squabbles with the Rams and later the
Colts cost this guy his place in history as being the best ever.

disbelief Damn, the Chiefs just can't catch a break. First Cassel's out for a month now Chan Gailey the offensive coordinator gets relieved of his duties. He was sorry as head coach in Dallas.

Chiefs fire offensive coordinator Chan Gailey. Uh oh.

It's true that most things don't matter a great deal in the preseason. I would suggest, though, that when you're firing your offensive coordinator two weeks before the season starts, that that means a great deal. And not in a good way.

That's what the Chiefs just did, though. After a preseason in which they've scored two offensive touchdowns in three games (and only one of those by the first-stringers), Chan Gailey is gone. This comes on top of the news that brand new golden boy quarterback Matt Cassel could be out for up to four weeks with a knee injury.

Through three weeks of the preseason, the Chiefs rank 25th in the league in total offense and are a minus-6 in the turnover category. Most people expect this to be a rebuilding year for the Chiefs, but when an organization shells out the draft picks and the cash for a new quarterback and a new offensive-minded head coach, they probably expect a little better than that.

Now, how much of this is Chan Gailey's fault, I couldn't tell you. The original plan was for Gailey to call the plays for the Chiefs. In preseason football, when everyone's running their most vanilla packages, it's probably not poor play calling that's keeping you out of the end zone. No one's getting out-schemed in the preseason. If you're losing, it's probably that the other guys have better players and better team-wide continuity than you do.

Of course, no one knows the real reasons behind Gailey's dismissal, and it's doubtful that we'll get them later when Haley addresses the media. Maybe it was just a panic move by a rookie head coach. Maybe there were major philosophical differences between Gailey and Haley.

No replacement was named immediately. Whoever does take over offensive coordinator duties, my guess is that Todd Haley will be absorbing a lot of the duties that used to belong to Gailey.

Although i don't think it was done with intent to injure,it was
a low blow. Yet one of the Houston defenders was called for
roughing the passer on Favre and it was clearly shown on the replay that
it was not a late hit.

What the hell is going on this week in the NFL, and it's only Tuesday??? nuts

Bengals' Andre Smith breaks foot in practice

CINCINNATI – Rookie right tackle Andre Smith has broken his foot during practice, only two days after he ended his holdout with the Cincinnati Bengals. He will be sidelined at least a few weeks.

The first-round draft pick sustained a small fracture in his left foot during a noncontact drill Tuesday, his third workout with the team. Coach Marvin Lewis said the injury won't require surgery.

Smith was the sixth overall pick, and the Bengals expected him to start at right tackle. His contract impasse forced him to miss the first three preseason games and cost him the chance to win a starting job in training camp. He agreed to a four-year deal Sunday.

I gotta agree with Graycap on this one. nod The San Diego Chargers have all of the talent and skills to absolutely dominate the NFL and win 13 to 14 games, yet with Norv Turner coaching they always underachieve. I know that they lost Shawne Merriman early last season. but that defense was horrible in the first half of the season. It was good for you Charger fans that Ron Rivera took over defensive coordinator duties and got them back on track to win the division and beat Indy in the first round of the playoffs. I think they'll still win the division, but that will be in spite of Norv Turner's coaching.

As for my Chicago Bears, it looks like Jay Cutler is the real deal, but he won't be able to show all of his explosive skills because we still don't have a true no, 1 wide receiver. Devin Hester is getting better at that position, but we still need a true go to guy. Expect Matt Forte and Greg Olsen to lead the team in receptions this year. Lovie Smith may not be on the hot seat yet, but if the Bears miss the playoffs this year, he may be sent packing.
