If there is no food in her bowl, more fussin', meowin', and caterwaulin' you never did hear. Sometimes she'll start fussin' and then realize there's food in the damn bowl. (do you think she apologizes either?) Meanwhile the dogs...just as patient as can be. If I wake up a little (or a lot) late, they are content to lay and wait and nap with me.

That's more the cat myth, in my experience. Cats have a pretty wide variety of personalities. Most of my cats have wanted to be in my space most of the time.

Some cats are easy going, some are anxious, some are cautious, some are intensely curious, some cats are lap cats, some are sit-nearby cats, some are ride-around-on-your-shoulder cats.

I've seen a pretty big difference between cats in single cat households and cats in any other situation though. Cats in single cat households have seemed more remote, generally, and exhibit a narrower range of behaviors. I often end up feeling a little sorry for them (however it's also true that some cats need to be in a single cat household).
