Just when I was wondering whether I'd be cast in any shows this season... ...my favorite director called...and asked me to do a season preview showcase and reprise my role as Mrs. Cratchit in A Christmas Carol! We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Panto rocks, don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise. Some people are like Slinkies...
They're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

I've done panto! My first show when I got back into acting about 10 years ago was a take on Robin Hood. I had a blast with that. Thanks, all. I was thrilled when I saw the email. There are two other shows I'd like to get this season - and this gives my confidence a nice boost going in. (I have an audition on Monday.) We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

For those who aren't familiar, a hallmark of panto is cross-gender casting. The lead male role is always played by a young, beautiful woman (ours was tall, leggy and blonde) and the lead female role is always played the biggest, burliest man they can find. I did play a...well...I guess you'd call it a "gender neutral" part - one of two jester-like characters. I should see if I can find a picture... We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. Ex-Moderator | I was thinking about rounding up my girls (my mom, sister-in-law and 2 nieces) to see it this year. I don't think the nieces have ever been. I remember going as a child. Such a nice Minnesota tradition.
I'll be sure to wave at you if we go. |

I'll be sure to wave at you if we go. I live in Madison. But I'll imagine you waving at me, anyway! We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
