I don't agree at all cuz anytime I've heard of that happening to other people the driver is FULLY aware the dog is in the car and CHOOSES to leave it in a locked car. She had no idea, according to her and her husband, so it's not even the same thing. I don't even know why anyone would correlate this to Vick. He knowingly and purposefully bred and raised dogs for the sole purpose of having them die horrible deaths in dogfights or at his own hands. If that ain't animal cruelty and criminal, I don't know what is. This lady's husband made an honest mistake. It's not the same thing. They are both obviously broken up over it. I'd bet all my shoes that Michael Vick didn't shed a single tear when he electrocuted or strangled dogs with his bare hands. On the contrary, he only shed tears when his ass went to jail. A mistake can still lead to a charge. Death by neglect.

I never understood how anybody can just forget a child or little animal in the back seat of their car. They have got way to much on they're minds.

Very sad story. They must feel awful. I would hope that people would have the good sense to just leave them alone and not make any bigger deal of it, whether in the press or (seriously) the courts. They've suffered enough.

No, I'm talking about the people who have made mistakes of leaving their pets in cars "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. Irony? Where is your fucking logic? It was a mistake. well technically, Vick made a mistake too. I mean it boils down to forgetfullness versus ignorance. Granted Vick did way worse but uh...in both cases a dog is dead because somebody didn't think.

Calling what Vick did "ignorance" is really oversimplifying what he did, imo.

Everyone makes mistakes Yes, Michael Vick, accidently made dogs fight for money and pleasure. Ooops! Calling what Vick did "ignorance" is really oversimplifying what he did, imo. I don't think it's oversimplifying or taking away responsibility from the couple. The article stated that the husband put the dog in the car and didn't tell the wife, he obviously didn't instantly feel the need to tell her since she made it a habit of taking the dog with her to work everyday. That in and of itself is forgetful and stupid on the part of both parties. The wife doesn't ask about the dog and the husband doesn't tell her he put the dog in the car. As for Vick, well he was raised around dog fighting and even though the rest of us find it abhorent, it was apparently normal to him and his southern culture. Lot's of people still participate in dog fighting and cock fighting. Vick was ignorant to the inhumanity and primitiveness of dog fighting and has now been re-educated through public outrage and incarceration. This couple will probably never again either place a dog in the car without telling the other or not check for any animal or other living creature (say a grandchild) before locking the car and closing all the windows.
