I can't figure out how people get others (other than friends) to follow them.

I see people with 800 followers and they are only following 100 people. And yet they are saying nothing of any relevance.

Unless you're a celeb promoting shit and have fans dying to read your every word, it's useless.

Like all social media, Twitter is as useful as you allow it to be.

Twitter, when used correctly, is an excellent communication tool. It allows you to hold public conversations which are concise, to the point, and open to everyone. Your timeline is completely unique to you, and can give you any type of information you want. This makes it unique and different from any other forum of information.

Twitter can be extremely useful from an organizational standpoint. Non-profits benefit greatly as they network with like minded people and companies to expand their scope of effectiveness.

Twitter allows you to share news, information, and pictures easily from anywhere - computer, phone, etc. You can then put your twitter feed on any website, so it is accessible to more than just those using the service itself. It also allows people to receive text updates with no signup required, and no charge.

(Good lord, I cannot believe I just defended Twitter.) lol

I find it hard to believe that celebs blabbing about their coffee is keeping twitter afloat

Because it isn't. Twitter was already pretty successful before celebrities even discovered it.

Who you follow dictates its usefulness to you, and who follows you also matters. If all you want is Perez and/or Ashton,
then all you'll get is Perez and/or Ashton. If social justice/volunteering is your thing, then you'll be instantly up on all events,
conversations, opportunities, etc... and so on and so forth...

It's not for everyone tho.

Anyways, I just wanted to post again so I could tell JustErin she was hot. biggrin

Just saw on Twitter a few minutes ago that Ted Kennedy passed away.
