Movies you think u will hate , but like ... or REALLY like ...

eek cool eek smile wink

I have a few "odd" romantic movies - movies that i didnt think i would like - and ended up watching all of them - and actually liking them ALOT ...

1. Before Sunrise - I kinda fell for this one cus it reminds me of Europe - and how "carefree" one could be - when we were 20s ... etc ...

2. Before Sunset- sequel - it was 9 years later and you always wonder what happened to the charactors . Without giving it away - i love the endings of both of these movies !

3. The Remains of the Day (1993) - the whole topic of "butlers" just fascinated me in this movie - but also the summary as written :"A butler who sacrificed body and soul to service in the years post World War II realizes too late how misguided his loyalty has been. " - again one of those movies i thought i would "YAWN" thru - i was fascinated by Anthony HOpkins charactor and also Emma yummy Thompson ... he he

comments ? addafew? am always looking for suggestions . NO pornos please . cool

I remember once when I was a little kid, my parents dragged me to the movies because there was some goofy flick my dad wanted to see, and I DID NOT WANT TO GO. I was all, "it looks stupid, I don't wanna see a movie about a bunch of people in white clothes!" but of course I didn't get any say in the matter and they dragged me into the theater grumbling and pouting (I didn't do the kick and scream thing - I saved that ploy for adulthood, lol).

Two hours later, yeah, I walked out of the theater a Star Wars geek for life. redface

the first time i saw 'koyaanisqatsi' i thought it was the stupidest, most pointless movie ever.

then i couldn't stop thinking about it the rest of the week.

then i watched it again, and i loved it to pieces. shrug

I remember a few years back I'd split with the missus and was lodging at a my mates flat and we went through a phase of renting videos and DVD's from the local store2 keep us entertained. Some nights he'd choose, some nights I'd choose but it seemed 2 me that most of the movies I chose he didn't like. So this night he got this movie and I was determined I was gonna hate it. I was gonna poo it and tell him how crap it was and enjoy getting a little revenge. The movie was called "The Boondock Saints" and I didn't stand a chance, it's now one of my all time favourite movies. Oh well. smile

As for a movie I thought I would hate...The Jane Austin Book Club.

I watched it because there was nothing else on. The I watched it again. I really loved it. The only problem I have with it is that there is not a single Black person in the entire movie (Jimmy Smits was the only minority). I mean..come on, Black people or other minorities don't read Jane Austin?

I'm just really confused as to why in this day and age they can even make any big bucks Hollywood movies without a more diverse cast. It just doesn't represent real life to me at all. shrug

edited to add that there was one Asian dr the young woman hooked up with towards the end, but she only had a minute of screen time.

There were a string of movies my friends dragged me to see with them some years ago and each and every one I thought would be incredibly boring, but I ended up really liking them all. I remember these three specifically:

Capturing The Friedmans
Raising Victor Vargas
Whale Rider
