Does anyone under thirty know Bazooka Joe? When I was young we used to stay with my grandmother and in the afternoon me and some other kids would walk up to the store and buy penny candy. Bazooka gum was one, the individual pieces with the comic wrapped around, about Bazooka Joe and it also had a fortune at the bottom.
I love these momories. We really did walk or bike by ourselves. Do kids do that today? (not alone or not without a helmet). We would also get Now or Laters, Grass Hoppers (hard green candy that was apple flavored), and a carmel sucker called a Slap Stick that was in a swirl, BB bats (suckers). Occasionaly we would pick up a charms sucker, you know the red and blue ones that turned your tongue deep color. Those seem to last longer than the blow pops. They started having charms sweet and sour pops also. Did you ever get the pixie straws with the powdered sugar? Nothing but flavored sugar!! g r e a t. Then I got the one that had the white stick and you dip it in the red and grape sugar powder. When you were done, you EAT the stick!!! Loved that too. Did you ever get the hot dog gum? Cinnemon gum shaped like a hotdog weiner, or gum cigarettes?? I better stop, it just started as a Bazooka thread. If you got kids, let them be kids and share in some candy memories. ---------------------------------

I know about Bazooka Joe. The comics were so lame. And the gum is really hard... -------
A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti... "I've just had an apostrophe!" "I think you mean an epiphany..."

they are spoiled on all of these new fangled pleasant gums..its supposed to be hard..you have to give it time in your mouth to get soft etc. Aint nuthin like unwrappin Bazooka and getting that powder on your fingers and opening that cominc up while chewin that gum getting it soft. Bazooka Comic Tribute Bazooka Joe: I had a dream last night that I ate a giant marshmallow Guy With Turtleneck Over half his Face: So...what's the big deal Bazooka Joe: When I woke up this morning my pillow was gone! Bazooka Joe gum . [This message was edited Wed Dec 18 17:01:15 PST 2002 by rdhull] "Climb in my fur."

They still sell Bazooka Joe in some candy stores (in Canada). The gum is still hard and the comics still suck.
