So ive been job hunting the last 2 weeks and it SUCKS!!! Just applied to 3 more today...

So what do you all do for a living??

Graphic design, work in Manhattan.

All of the good positions seem 2 be going 2 the people who KNOW people. Especially adminstrator/executive positions.

I am a personal assistant to a very prominent Lawyer in town. I take care of all of his personal stuff, family matters, help with his household staff problems. Etc. etc. etc.

kinda related...but our store manager abrubtly quit on us last week. his salary is still budgeted in our payroll, so immediately offered any employee who wanted to raise their weekly hours up to 40 (no OT) could do so. some took me up on the offer, most didn't. i don't understand ina recession how somebody can offer you more hours and you decide not to. (the work is really not that hard--it's retail dammit). now when i hire somebody to fill those hours, they'll get all pissy.

honey its going to take more than looking for 2 weeks to look for a job. Most of the time it takes months. It also takes a lot of patience, drive and determination to find a job. You also will need to network with others. That is key. You either have to have awesome creditials on your resume or you have to know key people.

You all have such GREAT jobs!! I know 2 weeks isnt much but ive always lived in smaller towns and it was SOOOO much easier to get a job there than in the city! you wouldnt think so but it was because like alot of you have said, Its who you know...I am just a very impatient person!

It never used to bother me... Now it's starting to. I'm getting to an age where I'm seriously questioning what the hell I'm doing with my life.

I've got some plans to change a few things over the next few years, yes indeedy.

I'm a principal at a brokerage firm. I'm also in school full time.

I do some graphic design, but mainly a student right now.

Parent Educator/Case Worker: I educate at-risk pregnant women about the importance of prenatal care, nutrition, exercise, and the importance of immunizing their infants on time. I also give referrals to programs dealing with job assistance, getting their GED, rental assistance as well as other resources within the community that I come across that may be of help to them.
