I mean, everything was going great about a month ago. I was in the Los Angeles Job Corps for a year, and this tuesday, they basically evicted me out of the dorms. I feel like one of those aliens from District 9 right now. Been running around LA like CRAZY looking for housing, but it seems I can only get help if I'm an abused woman, meth user, have AIDS, or crazy, which I am none of. So i don't know what I'm going to do...Suggestions?

Nobody at all. And this wouldn't even be a problem if the program I was in did what they said they were going to do. They were supposed to give me a 2 month "transition period" where I stayed in the dorms long enough to get a job and find some work, but they just put me out for no reason at all, and when I asked, they simply told me it was "time to go", even though I was allotted to stay there up to to years and was only there for one.

I have not slept in 4 days. I feel like I'm going to pass out any minute...Jesus Christ this is terrible. I just need to find a place to kick it tonight, and then get the ball rolling again in the morning. All day today I was running around LA getting numbers and looking online for help and all that, but it's a little too late right now for me to call any of those numbers so I have to wait until the morning.

Technically, no. I finished my training last week. After completing my training, they were supposed to give me a 2 month transitional period, which they didn't give me. I just found out 3 weeks ago that I was going to be "put out" on Tuesday. They didn't give any reason other than that it was my time to go, which doesn't make any sense. I spoke to every person I could about getting an extension, but they only gave me 2 weeks. Yet, there are people in there who misuse the program and enter and leave and enter and get put out and what not, yet the people who go there and do what they're supposed to do get the short end of the stick. So right now I'm gathering information on all the housing programs I qualify for in the LA area, since it was something they promised me and failed to do.

It's not a good permanent solution obviously but it can serve as a roof for a couple of nights


I don't live in LA and don't know anyone who has space. If it was in Tampa, I'd gladly let you stay at my house. I'm really sorry. I was kicked out of my house at 19, so I know all too well how EVERYTHING changes in an instant that way.

Is there someone you can complain to at the Job Corps? That seems really unfair, and if they did something against the rules, you might want to take legal action...In the meantime, maybe you could get help from one of your teachers, or classmates? Also, if there are any colleges near you with a 24 hour library you could try to hide out in there.

Lastly, if you have a family home that you can go to, please go there!

But regardless of how he got where he is now, I hope things work out and he finds the help he needs.
