It's perfectly legal, actually.


But if you're going to a salon that charges a flat rate for men, then a flat rate for women, consider spending a few extra bucks for a salon where each stylist charges their own price, based on effort and other factors.


Salons with flat rates are chop shops.

I could see the argument for charging more for long hair or even for certain hair types because it does create more work for the stylist, but a flat rate that's more expensive for females than for males?


A guy with long hair is usually charged extra.

Generally speaking, even women with short haircuts require more intricate cutting and styling than men with short hair. I know there are plenty of exceptions, but it's true in most cases: A man's hair cut is just a lot simpler to do.
