MIKE VICK TO DA EAGLES--RETURN TO ATLANTA IN DECEMBER

2-years per ESPN
Quarterback Michael Vick has signed a two-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, his agent, Joel Segal, confirmed to ESPN.com.

Vick was the No. 1 draft pick in 2001, and once the highest-paid player in football. But he has not played since 2006 when his career came tumbling down. He was convicted in August 2007 of conspiracy and running a dogfighting operation, sentenced to 23 months in federal prison and suspended indefinitely by the NFL.

But after serving his time and being released from home confinement July 20, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell conditionally lifted Vick's suspension, allowing him to sign with a team.

I'm curious to see what kind of shape he's in. I'm also glad that he has McNabb as well as Tony Dungee to mentor him.

This is a good move. nod It's good for Michael Vick because he goes to an established team with the starting quarterback already in place, and Michael Vick gets a chance to get into football shape without much of the backlash being aimed at him since he would be coming off the bench. Plus if Donovan McNabb retires in the next few years and Vick gets back to his Pro Bowl form, he can step in as the starting quarterback.

This is a ridiculous move. Donovan shoulda bounced when he had a chance. Yet another slap in his face and shows that they don't respect him one bit. disbelief

The difference 30 minutes make...it was supportive in the beginning, but now its the usual racist ignorant banter that's normal in philadelphia...it is a good move..he already knows the west coast offense..their backup QB is hurt and the worse he could do is run some wildcat and get 10 yrds..even deeper, sit him for the year, he gets healthy and trade him next year for a pick.

I think it's a great move. They're not going to replace him at all. Donovan is the starting QB. Vick is a wild card. I'm looking forward to the Eagles getting them in the game together at some point.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, until Donovan has ONE off game, the boo birds come out, the bloggers blog, the call in radio shows criticize, and then Andy Reed is gonna play them against each other. yawn Ask Donovan if HE thinks this is a good idea. I'd be pissed if I was him cuz he's done nothing but try to be a winning, class act in Philly and then the front ofc brings this dude in. disbelief

If Donovan had not had the shaky relationship with the coach, the owners, AND the city of Philly that he has I MIGHT agree. But there's just too much history there for them to throw Vick in as yet another controversy WAITING to happen. At least this time when the shit explodes ya'll can't blame TO.

A team source said that Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was informed of the team's interest in Vick and fully supported the idea. The source said that Vick and McNabb are close friends.

Vick, the source said, is not coming to Philadelphia to challenge McNabb for the starting quarterback job. Instead, he will be incorporated into the Eagles' offense in a number of ways, including the Wildcat formation that the team used sparingly last season, with rookie wide receiver DeSean Jackson taking the snaps. The Eagles source indicated that Vick will also be used as a wide receiver at times.

Kevin Kolb must be more hurt than they're saying..Donovan KNOWS he's on his last two years max...Vick already played in a west coast offense and until he learns the system he can always run the wildcat or option...or the eagles could let him get in shape and use him as trade bait when another team has a injury at QB.It kind of make sense,I thought the Ravens would do it,but hey...

after watching my ravens put up 500 yards of offense while shutting out the deadskins, i'm just glad he didn't go to the stealers
