The NBA thread, part 2

The other thread was getting too big, so here we go with round two...

in the west:

can the Lakers stop fighting with each other long enough to 4-peat from the bottom of the pacific division?evillol

or will the Kings be the new dynasty?

and who will stop the Mavericks before they stop themselves?

in the east:

is iverson the answer for the Sixers road to the championship?

or can the Nets take over the top spot?

(for Carrie) the Celtics are at the top of the atlantic division, will they stay there?

or can the Hornets sting the rest of the field from new orleans?

how is your team doing so far?

Shit, when I was following basketball I loved the Hawks and they had Blaylock, Smith, Mutombo, Augmon, Laettner and before that I used to love Dominique Wilkins.

I had a look at the teams yesterday and I couldn't get over how players like Glen Rice are just bit-part players now. They're all so old. Players like Pippen, I couldn't believe he was still playing, and Horace Grant!

Sad to see those towers in the middle like Olajuwon and Robinson starting to fade away too. sad

Oh well.

Still got lots of trading cards of Jordan and everyone. I don't really get to play when I'm in Bangkok although I did get to help teach some kids last February.

Lakers still have a Chance as long as they don't play like then can turn it on&off whenever they feel like it.Bench has too step up&they still need a Solid 3rd Scorer&some much needed Defense.Kings:got alot but until Chris"Glassy Eyed" Webber steps up big they won't win no matter how many All-Stars they have.remember the Lakers circa 1998 with Kobe,Van Exel,Shaq,Jones??all All-Stars but could never come up big when needed.Mavs:soft in the Middle&still are looking at the Kings as there Big Brother off a two Team in one.they are a Yao Ming away from making the Lakers take Notice IMHO.don't sleep on the SPurs. in the East:New Orleans,New Jersey,&the Pacers are the Main 3.after that Pistons,Sixers&Celtics are next in line.the first 3 IMHO are the best of the East.&also have the most Talent overall.

Doubtful.

or will the Kings be the new dynasty?

Doubtful.

and who will stop the Mavericks before they stop themselves?

Mirage.

is iverson the answer for the Sixers road to the championship?

Since he wasn't the answer before, I think it takes a bit more.

or can the Nets take over the top spot?

We shall see.

how is your team doing so far?

A one-legged man could kick more ass than my team.

I told ya why.

Just think of it this way; the day they stop being hated is the day they've ceased to have a winning tradition.

i think it's like that in all areas. since nbc isn't televising games anymore and it's abc's turn, abc has put the nba on the backburner while they are showing college football games. and it's not right disbelief

and the kings at 21-6

Oh, don't give me that nonsense! You'd like any team with Chris Webber! ill

They're at the top of the Pacific division just like last year.

ABC is supposed to televise NBA games instead of NBC. The question is WHEN. In the meantime, ESPN televises them sometimes.

Hibernation??? I really don't understand that comment, can you clarify?

Surrre. They never beat Sacramento OR the Lakers (while at home with Shaq). They have no inside game and gave up a 27 point lead in the 4th quarter to the Lakers to lose. I'd bet Houston would become a dynasty BEFORE the Dallas Mavericks. And even if the Lakers continue to stink up the joint like they're doing now, the Shaq/Kobe/PJ era is not done winning titles regardless of what happens this season.

blah, yada, blahhhh

Hibernation??? I really don't understand that comment, can you clarify? supernova the point i was trying 2 make here was that shaq is basically just getting warmed up,u do realize that he started about 13 (give or take a couple) games into the season.so he's not quite in the rhythm & he's also dealing with his fixed toe. fro music

first of all, why did shaq wait so long to get his toe done? it was bothering him all last season and he had plenty of time ( that is when he wasn't doing commercials, tv shows, fathering children, etc) to get it done in the off season to be ready for the start.

second, shaq is a professional. he shouldn't need time to warm up. if he's healthy enough to be on the court, he should be ready to play.

the lakers are done. they may get to the playoff, but a 4-peat ain't gonna happen.

Sure, there's an adjustment to be made. But I don't think Shaq's adjustment will help the Lakers THIS season.

That's what happens when you get 3 different opinions from 3 different doctors. You have to mull over which procedure to take when it's not just surgery, but surgery that could affect your entire livelihood. Now having said that - he DID wait too long to have it done. Shaq's deplorable attitude was that he could recuperate on "company time."

Being in shape and being in NBA shape/condition are two entirely different things.

the lakers are done. they may get to the playoff, but a 4-peat ain't gonna happen.

Nope. 'Tis not.
