Walking / Dancing I have NO idea where I am going with this thread so bear with me. Question 1: How would you describe your walk? Question 2: How woud you describe your dance style? Question 3: When walking, and listening to music, are you able to concentrate on walking or do you end up moving in time to the music? Go!

Answer 1: A few weeks ago, a mate of mine mentioned - in the middle of a random conversation - that a mutual friend of ours imitated my walk when she was drunk once. I was, like, 'What??!'. I mean, apart from the fact WHY did that happen , I was also mystified and intrigued to know what this bloody walk of mine is like.
Apparently, it was SOOOO accurate, my mate was in stitches. I am now determined to get our friend drunk so she can re-enact this stupid thing. Anyway, I tend to glide around the place generally - it's a sorta fluid motion. I weave in and out of people, especially if I'm in a crowd. Someone once called it 'feline'. Of course, that's on a confident day/when I'm in a rush - otherwise, it's eyes down and straight ahead. No messing. Answer 2: I have no idea how I developed my dance style - it's just 'my move', I guess. Growing up, I was terribly self-conscious about dancing - then I went to Uni and grew to love it! It's like Madonna says in 'Into The Groove' : Only when I'm dancing can I feel this freeeee... I know Miguel understand this - it's a spiritual thing, almost. My style involves a lotta shoulder shrugging and sensual hip swaying. Imagine someone with a broken back doing the 'Partyman' video. Answer 3: This is a tough one for me. I find it virtually IMPOSSIBLE to listen to music and not be affected by it. I hope I don't look like a dick when I'm walking about. I can't help it, though - it takes over, sometimes. I mean, I don't do star jumps and look like I'm auditioning for 'Fame!'; but I know there's a bit of rhythm in there, somewhere. . [Edited 8/18/09 13:57pm]

Did you not think anyone would notice?? Well I was just so into it I kinda got lost in my own world What's your dance style, Supa? Were you shown it? Did you copy a favourte artist? Or did you develop the 'Supa' style? I've always been able to dance and my style is freestyle, just how it comes to me but I do know that growing up in gay clubs with vogue dancing inspires me in that direction even though I am not a professional voguer. I got a few moves tucked away though And are you able to walk and listen to music without mingling the two??
Can. not. do. it. Mingle all the way. It usually turns into full on dance walking 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Can. not. do. it. Mingle all the way. It usually turns into full on dance walking I wanna see you dance! I bet it's very dramatic. Do you need an entire dancefloor to yourself?? And I am very relieved to hear there is another 'mingler' here. Even without music, I find myself thinking of some track and walking in time to it. I can't help it. Minglers Unite! You love your funk. Sure. Being in a wheelchair has never stopped me from moving. You can be in any position and feel the rhythm. Being a musician has greatly contributed to feeling the music, the rhythm the bass. I have control over my legs even though it's limited and I can move my upper body and arms just fine. I have even entered contests where I imitated michael jackson and won awards. One is only as limited as you make yourself out to be. If you feel there is no limit you can really do anything and people's perception changes. When I go to the club, literally all people of ALL cultures/backgrounds/ages/preferences/genders are happy to see me. Often times, I may be the only one in a wheelchair, but that never stops the dance. The dance is there for me and will be created. Hell, I turn on my wheelchair lights and have peoplecheering and appluading. The funk is definitely within me.
